  • For any percussionist or drummer –– with a total length of 12" and weighing 4 ounces, this mallet is very handy to keep in any time-keeper's bag –– perfect for the cajon, bongos, djembe, conga and even special effects on the drum set

Timber Drum Co. is a small workshop located in Nashville, Tennessee dedicated to crafting MADE IN U.S.A. instruments with locally sourced materials. The Timber Drum Co. Cajon Slap Mallet is a must-have for drummers and percussionists. This mallet allows you to get the authentic sound of playing with your hand without the pain and inconsistency. We are able to get this sound using a weighted and flexible mallet core encased in super durable canvas. It works on many percussion instruments but especially well on cajon, djembe, congas and bongos. You can even use it for special effects on the drum set. For the grip, we use a durable and thick solid birch handle that feels great in your hand (3/4” thick). This handle feels like a thick drumstick and is long enough to accommodate any grip that feels comfortable for you. Test it out and get creative. (Pro Tip: some players like using the Slap Mallet in one hand and rods or brush in the other hand.). Made in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A (single mallet only).

Bought a slapstick from this company. The quality was so good, we found and bought two of these hand slaps for the small cajon/drum. They are perfect, protect our hand and sound great.

This mallet item helps keep the beat playing hand drums. It also gives aching and tired hands a rest.

After a couple years of whacking my cajon with the palm of my hand and fingers I developed painful tendon issues. Now I always play with this device and it has saved my hand. Sounds natural.

I've played hand drums for decades. At 70, arthritis in my hands has made it painful to play. These 'slap mallets' are easy to hold and work beautifully for all my percussion instruments. Give it some time. You'll be learning a new but fun way to play. I've been very pleased.

These are decent mallets and put out a lot of sound on a cajon, but they don't seem to produce an authentic slap sound for me. The mallet head material is too hard and does not reproduce the sound of a hand hitting the cajon. It makes a sharper “clack” sound. If you don't mind that, you will not regret buying this product because it is well constructed. I bought mine to save my hands which were getting damaged from hitting the hard cajon surface, unfortunately, these mallets did not sound good for me. Maybe they would be better with some sort of extra foam padding on the mallet head material.

Not what I expected. The handle is just a piece of cheap dowel rod. The paddle is a chunk of rubber with a permanent curl (like a chunk of an old tire) that makes it awkward to use, very unbalanced. Tried to use them for about 15 minutes and the nails that hold the rubber to the cheap dowel rod came out on one of them and the rubber was flopping loose. Disappointed, I returned them.
