How to use?

I've had it up for about a month. It was really easy to install. The grip feels comfortable when crushing cans. The only issue I've run into was the flat part that comes down bent. I think it may have been designed to bend when someone (like my fiance) pulls down too hard, but it was super easy to bend back into shape with a wrench and I haven't any other issues with it. I would buy it again.

Everything about this can crusher is awesome except for the bottom plate that the cans sit on. It's a massive design flaw and WILL fail eventually. I've had mine for a little over a year, which is decent but you would expect "years" out of something so simple. The flaw in this design is that the bottom plate that the cans sit on is held flat by a thin piece of metal that (one on each side), you guessed it, they bent. Now my cans slide off the base before I get a chance to crush them. All of this could have been avoided by spending a few extra cents on slightly thicker aluminum or adding an extra piece.I'll know better next time. It's not a horrible crusher and I did put quite a few cans through it, but I would have loved to have seen a couple more years.

Compared to past similar products, this requires a lot of force to use. Not a problem for elderly adults, but too difficult for small children delaying their ability to smash cans. Advantage for this product is hole in upper plate which allows one to compress water bottles. However, for me, must replace the cap after compression or the bottle reverts to near original size defeating the purpose. In our area (NJ) water bottle caps are not recyclable at this time. 1 star deduction for amount of strength required for operation.

I like many things about this can crusher; sturdiness, colour, easy to use and install. I have mine mounted a piece of 2"x4" to prevent it from damaging the drywall. My only complaint is that it doesn't crush cans quite as flat as the last can crusher I had because the handle has a built in "brake" at the bottom preventing the top crushing plate from going all the way to the bottom to really flatten cans. I also find that the bottle crusher feature is not all that useful as many plastic bottles spring back and do not stay flattened.
