The instructions are very clear and easy. It tells you to turn it on max power for 20 minutes outside before you use it as it will smell and smoke due to factory oil if you don't. After that, there is no smell or smoke. Easy to use. I would pay double the price for this!

What a relief to have a dedicated wax melting set up! I was using stuff collected from the here & there around the house/ kitchen & was tired of having to clean everything after each candle making session because I’d need to use the pot or spoon etc for something else. With this complete wax melting set, I don’t t even bother cleaning the wax off of the surfaces or the melting pot because I know the only time I’ll need to use it is for melting candle wax! This kit comes with everything you’ll need to get started, but you will need to buy wax & fragrance . I suggest researching the various kinds of wax available to decide what will work best for you. Also, read up on essential oils vs fragrance oils to learn about the pro & cons of using one or the other. You can buy inexpensive glass jars/ small cups specifically for making candles on Amazon or you can find all kinds of glass containers at thrift stores as well. (Again, do your research about the best size & weight of glass to use for candles, it really does matter!) It’s also fun to use vintage tea cups to make lovely candles. I am thrilled to have gotten this wax melting/ candle making kit! I’m now actually MAKING candles rather than just thinking about it! This set makes it so easy to just set up for an afternoon of fun without having to make a huge mess & a big production. Be sure the heating unit & melting pot are completely cool before putting away in a plastic storage box that can just go on a shelf for next time. You are going to have SO MUCH fun with this kit! And candles are such a great gift … to make and to receive!

Everything is included but the wax and container/molds for the candles. The hotplate heats up fast, is smaller and safer than trying to melt wax on the stove top. For the price you cannot go wrong.

When I read this was a complete candle making kit for beginners, I assumed it would include everything needed to make at least a couple of candles. It does have everything except the wax and scent, which are pretty important. I had to go purchase some wax to try it out, and it all worked good enough, but it sure is small. I love the self-sticking wicks, it makes it so much easier, than the alternative.
