DATE OF ORDER: 07/18/24DATE RECEIVED: 07/24/24DATE OF REVIEW: 07/26/24PERSONAL BUY / PRODUCT TO REVIEW: Personal BuyDELIVERY: UPS - Nicely packaged. Arrived in excellent condition.QUALITY: In our case, it was an exact OEM replacement for Carefree.INTENDED PURPOSE: Purchased 2 for an 18'0" RV Canopy.RECOMMENDATION: I make a recommendation to buy these if you need to replace yours but read on. Our previous shocks lasted 10 years. They recently became so weak that we had to hand-push the canopy out. But don't be fooled by that. These shocks still had a punch to pack when trying to get them off. I have two complaints. There were no instructions. The eyelets on each end were on there TIGHT! I could have easily damaged the shock if I had not watched previous videos on this. It would be best if they were not installed and left in the package instead. They could also put them on loosely to protect the threads if that was an issue. BUT LOOSELY! The trick on the Carefree motorized canopy is to use an allen wrench and take one of the two roller guides on the bottom of the track guide off. That's all you have to do. By taking one of the two off, you'll be able to weasel the other side off the track. Then push to bar up far enough to unscrew the shocks off. I wish I had made a video for this. Doing it this way, I replaced each shock in about 5 minutes each. Yes, you'll be taking the roller bar off first. I had to replace the canopy anyway. Don't try to take the shocks off if you don't take the pressure off. You will hurt yourself (badly) and/or damage your rig.PROS - These shocks are powerful. You will not be able to 'man-handle' them on. There is a trick.CONS - No instructions but overcome that by watching YouTube videos.COMMENT: Canopies will roll out quickly with good shocks. They will retract slowly because they have to overcome the shock pressure. Especially the first few feet. Once it overcomes the shock, it will roll a little faster but rolling out will be much faster than rolling in.

Kind of hard to install, would recommend placing some plastic behind the shock mount to protect it while installing. It is difficult and you will need some screw drivers to pry shock into place.

These fit my 17 ‘ carefree awning perfectly and it does take some muscle to get these in by your self .The threaded eyes on the end can be removed but be cautious not to scratch the piston rod .

After checking on-line it was an easy install. Leave your old eyes in place by screwing the rods out of them. You can use pliers or vice grips for the old one. Carefully screw the eyes off the new one then screw the rod assembly onto the two eyes still attached to the canopy brackets.
