Mechanical engineering 101: never design something that is struck often and unevenly, and expect it to hold in place with one tiny screw and a nut. Go back to school and learn physics!

I was going to add this to my hi-hat stand - the screw threads prevented this. The blocks sound ok, but they are screwed in rather loosely instead of being tight.
