I have a lot of cassette tapes that my late wife left behind that I want to preserve digitally. This unit more than exceeded my expectations, as it's easy to use, has USB/micro SD card play/record capability, and the sound quality is on par with my better players. I've purchased the smaller tape/MP3 converter units, and they all stopped working after a few years (the rubber belts always wear out in time). I hope this unit lasts long enough for me to do all the converting I need to do.The price is more than reasonable considering its capabilities. If you purchase it, I hope you'll be as happy as I've been with it!

I bought based on the description of "stereo sound" and most of the reviews agreeing but nothing they were vine or reviews based on some promotion. I'm here to tell you that my results show that the output from the headphone jack is in mono as is the playback to microSD recording is mono - not stereo. It may have the same "quality" as a stereo recording but it combines both tracks into one output which may be separated into to two tracks of the same mono recording. So if you think youre playing back or listening to a stereo track, it doesn't do this. It will also only record in a bitrate of 128kbps quality in an mp3 file that I couldn't open in Audacity or pro based tools I have due to some error. It took 4 software programs to find one that would read the encoded output. In fairness, I didn't bother to connect it via USB to Audacity because I wasn't interested in going further. Maybe it worked in stereo for that purpose based on these folks, but that's their experience FWIW. I found something else that records in a slightly higher bitrate (neglible but higher) and definitely does output via headphones and to microSD in two stereo tracks.

It is an excellent cassette recorder for the price. It has nice sound and feels well built.

It seems to be on speed, with simple controls. Transfer from cassette to USB is not as easy as the brief instructions indicate. Plan on practicing with the unit before you use it for anything important. Unfortunately, it is NOT Stereo. Mono only. Sigh.

Intended use for device was to play older prerecorded cassettes. Sound quality on the built-in speaker exceeded expectations. Speed of tape was consistent and was in line with expectations but a little fast (103%) of normal. No sound distortion unless near an electronic device such as a cell phone or wifi router. Playback through headphones also exceeded expectations. I did not test connectivity via USB cable or memory stick as yet. It does well with USB power, even though it only feeds in 5 volts. I did not test it with C batteries yet.

I looked at the reviews on this tape recorder and they were good, however the sounds comes out distorted and much background static. Terrible item. I wanted something to record music, but the recordings are just terrible.

I purchased this to convert some legacy cassettes from my grandfather. It works great for the spoken word historical cassettes. All playback seems to be mono only...no stereo. The device does work with Windows 11 for Audacity. The device needs to be powered on (push play and immediately pause the cassette) so you can "rescan audio devices" under "audio setup". Then hit "record" in audacity and un-pause the cassette. The Audacity recording level is terribly muted...even when the recording level is turned all the way up on my PC and within Audacity. I'd recommend sticking with USB.Cassette to USB recording works really well...but is still mono.
