This has been an absolute blast to use out on our farm. The setup is easy thanks to the clear instructions and the StarSense app is beyond impressive in terms of accuracy and usability. I appreciated the extra bag it comes with to store the eye pieces and little parts that I would absolutely lose without it. The tabletop design is also super convenient, though I might by a tripod later on for flexibility.

Scope arrived with the base unassembled, laminated particle board. It is pretty sturdy after it is put together, and an impressive site to see. Not too large for my 12yr old to handle, but large enough to let in sufficient light for star and planet gazing. The lens caddy for the base is meant to take on and off so the screws cannot be over tightened as they only go in so far.The laser pointer/finder slides right on, is easy to adjust, and works pretty well! I was able to align it with the scope within minutes. Do this during the day… Saturn was in view last night and I aligned the scope with Saturn using the laser finder and it appeared right in the lens’s field of view! It was the first time I ever witnessed Saturn and it’s rings through a telescope and it was pretty exciting. I added a 2x Barlow lens adapter and was able to get a zoomed in view that was even more impressive. I was even able to make out one of it’s orbiting moons. It takes a little patience getting used to adjusting the scope while viewing targets as everything you see appears in reverse. To track targets while looking through the lens, you will need to move the scope in the opposite direction (right goes left, left goes right, up goes down, down goes up). It’s easy to do, just takes some practice. The Starsense app works as expected and I was able to get it working without a lot of extra effort. I’m pretty satisfied and makes the setup look professional.I can’t wait to see what else we can spot in the night sky! This is our first telescope so we cannot compare it to anything else, but based on our experience last night, I would have no problems recommending it!

The setup takes a few hours to assemble right out of the box. The instructions could have been better. They need a good set of orientation pictures at better angles. The only trouble I had with the assembly was that the holes that were predrilled were drilled too short. An easy fix to this problem was with a hand drill. I took the 150mm Celestron out for a test after assembly and found that it worked as expected. The lenses were just ok! And, I will be buying Possel lenses with better eye relief. The moons of Jupiter came in as clear points of light even with the packaged 10mm & 25mm lenses. The focus wheel was a little stiff, but a drop oil helped. The DOB frame and base are solid and are easy to handle. But, the 150mm DOB table top is a little heavy. So, if you are thinking about the weight being a problem, then the 114mm desktop DOB might be a better choice. The DOB was on sale at the time I ordered it, and at a discounted price. So for the price I paid it was great.

It took 3+ hours to assemble. Have yet to see anything but black. Have looked at several u tube videos to make sense of the issues to no avail. The collateral advertised as simple and user friendly and can start seeing the stars immediately. Ha! Not so! Very disappointed!!’

Very easy to assemble and use. Well made and good optically. The StarSense Explorer app is a joy to use, even for beginners. Craters on the Moon, rings of Saturn, moons of Jupiter, double stars, currently visible comets, and even some deep sky objects can be seen thanks to this app. But I'm not giving the scope 5 stars because the app doesn't work with two different recent Android phones I tried. Celestron's tech support was unable to help with this. I bought a used iPhone X for it and it works great. The two eyepieces that come with it are adequate, but the Celestron zoom eyepiece (available separately) gives greater flexibility in magnification.

I did spend more time than I usually do researching this purchase. Opinions differ, but the most frequent advice is to go for an 8" or 6" Dobsonian and by the size that you will take out to make observations. I am very impressed with this package, and the star sense explorer smartphone app is really a game changer in terms of helping beginners like me find the objects they are looking for in the sky, and positively identify what they're named. Until I know for sure that astronomy is a hobby I want to get more serious with, this was the perfect choice for me.

Value for the price is incredible for what comes out of the box. The first thing my daughter saw was Jupiter and it's moons. The assembly was awful as mine didn't come with instructions or parts list and finding this particular models instructions wasn't the easiest thing to do requiring a slow tedious process of using a third party website riddled with ads to look at the pdf page by page. This also comes with an app that I think comes with code in the provided paperwork so you can make use of the app with all features, but we also can't use that and reaching out to the manufacturers website has produced no response. So if you don't mind detective work and the app not being included, it's still a great telescope.

have not tried the telescope to be honest, the assembly manual is very very bad, the instructions are very vague, and the worst part is the pictures that are supposed to guide you on how to install are not making sense what is showing as the front in the picture for example is the back in reality see photo below to understand ( the dial that is showing in the picture as front, in reality is in the back, so now you don't know where to place the pieces that are shown in the photo, this is just a small example the entire manual is as messy as this example.I bought Orion before, it is not as confusing to install as this one, also there were missing screws to attach the telescope to the base

This is not a cheap telescope. The build quality is undeniable. It comes well packaged and only requires basic assembly as well as alignment and all the tools required are included. The star sense app makes it so user friendly that my four year old who can not read yet can pretty much make great use of it and if you can read it is incredible, I still can not believe that it is included for free.Reason I give it three stars is because besides the moon nothing else seems clear. We tried looking at Jupiter, Venus and Mars and they just look like distant stars even with an additional 2x Barlow lens and 6mm eye piece. The stars were a waste of time in my opinion because they just look like bigger lights than you would see with your naked eye.We took it on a glamming trip in the country side to escape the light pollution and ended up looking at the sheep instead and even this was a little awkward because they appear upside down. Also worth mentioning, the weather conditions in the north of England make it difficult to get regular clear skies and in the cold weather be advised that your breath will constantly steam up the eye pieces.I can not recommend because I do not see the value for money in this.
