I have an older AVX mount that came with a Nexstar+ hand controller with a serial port in the bottom (using an RJ-12 connector) purchased in 2013. I got this as a replacement to upgrade to a USB connector so that I don't have to use a pair of adapter cables to connect to a USB device (ASIAir Mini.)I plugged it into the AVX mount in place of the old handset, and it worked perfectly. Booted right up, requested the basic settings, and it immediately controlled the mount without missing a beat. I went through an alignment then set it running and it tracked without any problems. If you've got the old serial handset, this is a no-fuss upgrade.Edited to add: This also works with an Advanced GT mount, and makes a very good upgrade from the original NexStar. It's faster, has more objects, and it's nice to have a real USB port without needing an adapter. I use it on my C90 with an Advanced GT mount (the AVX is practically the same mount with a few updates, and that helps my old AGT because I can still get parts for it.)

After my original remote failed, I had to buy this one, later hearing that afterwards if you are connecting to the scope via WiFi, this thing is obsoleteâ˜¹ï¸ Long story short, took a while to find but worked as advertised. I have the 8 inch SE8 with AVX mount and my images are on the spot - as soon as you have the WiFi dongle, the serial interface doesn't seem to work anymore so I have no clue how to update all of this or whether the Celestron Updater software will update it as it appears to be doing

Does what it needs to do with my Celestron setup.

I thought wow, a Celestron hand controller that now connects directly to a USB port on your notebook computer. You can flash upgrade to the latest Nexstar software with or with out having the controller connected to your mount. I flash upgraded my new Nexstar Hand Controller seamlessly without having to connect it to my CGEM mount. Of course in order to flash upgrade my mounts motor controllers I had to connect the Nexstar hand controller to my CGEM. Here again, no issues as the upgrade went smoothly.I think it would be better if Celestron would have included the USB cable as I had to do some research to find the correct mini or was it micro USB cable? I ordered the correct mini USB cable.

I purchased like 4 of these used from the warehouse. The first 3 were broken, or didn't have the USB port. Finally on the 4th try I got a working USB model. Frustrating but ended up working out.

My hand controller had a few buttons that were sticking and did not respond instantly. I purchased this one and it is like magic in my hands. Instant response and it has the USB input on the bottom which makes updating firmware a lot easier than the RJ12 inputs on the older HC's. The only gripe that I have about this one is that it will not seat completely in the old HC holder.
