This is exactly what I needed to replace a old stretched out spring on my attic pull down stairs. I have a home with a Century attic ladder and it is nothing fancy but for years one of the sides has been constantly sagging and gradually getting worse. It didn't take me long to realize that the culprit was a spring that had caught on a bolt while the door was closed and then when opened it caused the spring to get deformed and stretched out...Well long story short, I have been looing forever to find a replacement spring and could never quite find exactly what I needed but when I stumbled across this one on Amazon it looked like it should fit the bill and it was cheap enough that it was worth it to take a chance. Well the gamble paid off and while it is a tiny bit shorter than the original spring it works perfectly. I couldn't recommend this more if you have a century attic stair like this... and need a replacement spring, then this is exactly what you need.***Update*** I forgot to mention this before but I did have to cut a tiny bit off of one of the eyes of the spring in order for me to be able to get it to hook through the original spring mount. Also to be honest it was a huge pain in the rear to install. Since it is a tiny bit shorter than the original spring, that requires stretching it slightly to actually get it installed, which was definitely no picnic. However since this spring wasn't necessarily designed for this specific application I wasn't going to ding it on the review for those two issues. Especially since now that it is installed it works perfectly.

If they were just a little bit stronger they would be perfect. As they are, they work fine. They just don't pull the stars up tight, maybe 1/8" gap when closed.

needed spring for attic loft door. bought one to see if correct part, as i could not find any part number for door....tried an it fit perfect! what the heck, bought a second one to match the first, and now i have a perfectly working attic pull down door that will last me for the next couple of decades!!!! thank you!

Good product. A lot stiffer than Century Springs but still useable for wheelchair ramps on the back of our vans we build.
