I bought this to fix my mower, I was using a spring from a screen door and it worked for a while. When that started to fail I figured I'd get the proper spring and I definitely noticed a difference once I installed it. It works much better and was easy to install.

Every time it breaks, I order another spring, while I am waiting, I take the broken spring and use my propane torch and heat the next 3 coils of the remaining broken spring, stretch this portion straight, and create a loop that looks similar to the original spring loop. Not a long term fix but it last long enough to order and receive a replacement spring. Being the third replacement, I have choose to “normalize†this new spring by heating this area cherry red then allow it to cool very slowly. This is the area of the original factory spring where the three prior springs have broken. (Why I choose to do this). Using a file in this “prone to breaking†area on the stem of the spring- it seems extremely “hard†and, in my opinion, should be “normalized†to allow a bit more flexibility…

Buy one. Heck buy 2. As out of all the parts on a Cub Cadet, this is the one that will break the most. Have replaced 2 in the last 5 years.

Purchased on July 5th and broke about a third the way down from hooked end on August 8th. Guess would be just a weak spot in the metal.
