Tesla uses a short, very heavy duty spring for the front trunk which means you have to put quite a bit of pressure on the hood to close it. This spring is heavy duty so that when the trunk pops open it's got enough pressure to pop it a bit. I wanted this smaller spring to make the front trunk easier to close, but then later realized that it wasn't enough pressure to lift the hood. If you're here to do this mod, get automatic frunk struts! This will not work alone without it. That being said, springs came quick and worked great once I got the other half of what I needed. That's not the sellers fault by at all, just noting it for other/future Tesla owners we are doing the same mod. Springs work fantastic!

Easy installation and works wonders. Tesla should have had this installed. I love it. Makes opening the frunk on my Model 3 so much easier. Thanks to i1T Utube video on the installation, it was a no brainer. So much quieter and super easy to close the frunk compared to the stock setup.

With the stock frunk struts on my 6/2019 M3 these did not pop the frunk high enough to open manually. After upgrading to stronger struts it appears to be working properly and closes very easily. My first set of struts being the recommended Jeep version opened the frunk way too strongly. I replaced with thr following set and it works good paired with this spring. Although i believe i cut part of the spring off to make it slightly tighter in previous failings.

I replaced the spring on my frunk. The original spring is just way too tight and make it more difficult to close the frunk. This spring is perfect.

The release spring has soo little tension that you can close the hood with little pressure, less chance to bend the flimsy hood. Testing so far shows the hood won't open unexpectedly.

I replaced my original Tesla model 3 frunk spring to open with these based on a recommendation on yourtube by JohnXandertech and they did not work as described. The frunk did open but once closed for a few hours the frunk will NOT open again automatically. You will need to go out to the frunk and physically pry the frunk open for it to work. Once opened it will open automatically but only for a few minutes. Once closed again for over 1 hour the frunk will not open automatically.Do not replace the original Tesla frunk springs with these.

If you are planning to use for Model 3 frunk, mine personally did not work because I didn’t replace the struts so there wasn’t enough tension to actually pop the hood and would not lift. Had to press the button to pop the frunk and pry gently with chopstick to open. Ask tried with both springs. Still not enough tension. I didn’t want to replace struts just thought I’d have a lighter spring so I didn’t have to press so incredibly hard to close.

Using this in conjunction with new struts for my Tesla model 3 frunk. It’s working great! The frunk closes with little pressure and can lock it with one hand
