Excellent value single speed replacement pump. Replaced an older 2 speed replacement Century pump that ran well for years. Just make sure you take pictures of the wiring connections on the back of the old pump before swapping. Also, crucial to your swap is the choice of gasket/shaft seal kit. Highly recommend the "Badass" brand (seriously, lol). Despite the name, they fit perfectly, and my system is leak free.

Motor has only been in service a few days, but it mounted nicely on my Challenger pool pump. However, the shaft on this motor is not threaded to accept the stainless locking bolt used on the factory motor. However, this shouldn't matter, as the impeller - as in all pumps - threads in reverse, so the impeller is tightened as the motor operates. Also, a very minor issue, the motor housing is approx 3/4" smaller in diameter than the factory original. It is best practice to have the motor mounted level, so I compensated the difference with some "field fabricated" high density foam, which is strong enough to resist collapse from the motor's weight. I also like that this came wired at 230V from the factory, didn't have to mess with any wiring changes, easy-peesy. I bought the 4-year warranty, BTW, something I normally never do.

Bought this in May 2016 and still going. Just started making some weird noises mid 7/24. The vents in the back are very rusted and falling apart. I have a plastic motor cover on it since late 2016. We live in Pennsylvania and have the pool professionally closed every year the first week in Oct. Going to buy this again to ktetep on hand when this actually dies. Still going strong! Been a little lazy keeping the pump filter clean this year. Have lots of kids with long hair the last couple years. Took it's toll I think. Great pool motor!

Like most of you reading this, you are probably looking for a decent pool motor priced right. Perhaps you may have called your local pool store and found they were $80+ more than whats listed here on Amazon?Being a thrifty spender and avid DIY'er, I decided to take a chance on this pool motor despite the questionable reviews of it here. I purchased the motor June, 7th 2020 and it lasted until Sept 1st 2020. A touch under 3 months.I installed this myself, and it ran great - for awhile. Over time I noticed it getting louder and louder. Until one day it would constantly trip the breaker. I decided to take it apart to see what went wrong. As you can tell by the attached pictures, it looks like the cheap plastic fan came apart and/or melted, toasting the entire unit. If you have made it this far in my review, you probably realized by now this is not something you want to happen to you. Please do not purchase this motor or else you will be throwing away your hard earned money like I did. Learn from my mistakes.TLDR- Unit lasted 3 months and then melted down. DO NOT PURCHASE or you will be sorry.

We had our local pool company install a new motor in 2018. Cost $600. It died in Jan 2020. I purchased this one for less than $200, my husband installed and works great so far. Very quiet as compared with our last one. Even if it last only a year it was still a bargain. Saved us over $400.Update. Motor has just started making noise so went ahead and ordered another. Motor lasted 4 years and 8 months. Still a happy customer!
