I tried to get a perfect fit but these were slightly large, it was so easy to just trim them to size with scissors though. The extra thickness really helps to keep the bad scent from coming out of the compost bin.

These filters are quite thick, nearly a half inch. They are larger than I needed but relatively easy to cut. Most importantly, they are great for filtering the odor from my kitchen compost bucket

This did NOT keep fruit flies out of my compost bin, despite being thicker than the normal filter it came with. Also the size was too large, but even trimming it down did not make it effective. Would have been better using nothing, because nothing is free! Now too late and Amazon will not accept my return… seems like the thick design creates more space/holes for fruit flies to get through—a thinner more compact design works more efficiently, sadly. Found that out the hard way :(

I needed to buy new filters for my countertop compost bin and I was hoping for a thicker filter to keep fruit flies to a minimum (August/September is always the worst for fruit flies in my area). These are nice and thick and perfect size! Usually I have to trim them and I am really bad at cutting a circle.You need these if you are doing countertop composting and want to keep the fruit fly population down! Will be buying again when I need new filters!

I bought them for my Utopia canister. It is a different size, slightly larger. I will try to squeeze it, will see … so cannot comment yet on functionality.
