EASY-TO-USE COOKING AID
Nothing makes ingredients more dynamic than the good old hand grinding from your traditional mortar and pestle. Even if you already have a food processor, your kitchen is not complete without this set. To use, fill the mortar 1/3 full only to avoid spillage and making crushing difficult. Be sure to start with the hardest ingredients to grind. If you need to grind a large number of ingredients, do so in batches.
SWEAT-FREE CLEANING & UPKEEP
Made of minimal-porosity granite stone, our mortar and pestle do not have a high tendency to absorb flavors and odors, making the set very easy to clean after each use. To clean, simply bring out some uncooked white rice. Grind it into powder to remove unwanted flavors from sticking to your tools. Dust the powder, and you’re done. You can also wash it with water afterwards and leave it to air dry. Try to avoid soap as much as you can.

I’ve used it way more times than I was expecting. Very heavy and sturdy, works well with grinding and mashing things.I like that it comes with a thin foam pad that you stick on the bottom to minimize impact with your counter. I still recommend using it over a small towel or something to dampen the impact on your counter and the sound that makes.It is heavy so it can be hard to pick up, empty it’s contents, clean etc. So that’s something to consider for those who might have hand/arm pain or weakness.It also is sizeable so need to find a place in my kitchen for yet another gadget but I do think it is worth the space. .Comes with very clear, simple and concise instructions for first time use and overall care (never use soap!). If they hadn’t had these instructions written very visibly and clearly I probably would have done it all wrong. Thankfully it caught my attention and all is well.I like that this is kind of like a wok. It soaks in a bit of whatever you are grinding and over time it can add seasoning back into what you grind in it.I now use it regularly to grind up my spices for chai tea, mash up ginger or garlic for recipes. Crush up peppers. Made ground roasted sesame for a homemade Chinese sesame paste. Very happy with this purchase.

i did have an issue with this upon arrival as a large chunk of the stone had been chipped away from the inside of the mortar, making it useless. however customer service was excellent and they shipped a new one to me which arrived the following day. since then ive used it at least three times a week making sauces, crushing herbs, and breaking down seasonings like peppercorns. its very heavy and very great quality in my opinion. i did season it by grinding uncooked rice and coarse salt until it turned into dust (about 10 min) and then wiped clean and wiped down with a bit of oil, then put it in my oven to proof/season. cant remember temp or how long but there are plenty of youtube tutorials you can seek out if its what you want to do. some people advise against it for various reasons but ive never had an issue using it this way, and ive owned several of these throughout my life. because of this i think i have a good understanding of what a good quality mortar and pestle set perform like, and this is definitely one of the better ones ive used.

Does great job with nearly anything that can be crushed. It DOES however require some breaking in to smooth out the inside and remove any stray bit of stone left over from manufacture. The instructions make his point and are very clear. Great product should last forever!

A sturdy m&p that comes with amazing instructions for care and seasoning. Includes a very necessary thin felt mat for the bottom of the mortar so as it doesn’t damage countertops or slide away. Very attractive so I have chosen to leave it out on display. Very comfortable to grip and use and easy to clean.Would buy again but I have a feeling this will last a lifetime!

I’ve owned any number of mortar-and-pestle devices over the years, and this one is simply the best of the lot.It’s sturdy and solid and very easy to use. Clean-up is a breeze.I could not be happier with this thing, and I foresee many years of use to come.
