It was sturdy other than that i did not like it. The cherry cup was to small, it tore up the cherries when pushed the pit out. I ended up throwing it away and buying a better onre

Cherry pitter works well for removing one cherry pit at a time. The construction of the tool is a powder-coated metal. It has a nice weight, and feel in your hand. Fairly easy to use and clean. The "cup" is a bit on the small side, so larger fruits may be crushed or torn by the time the pit/seed is removed. Also, it may be my particular technique, but I ended up "launching" cherry pits across my kitchen counter.

First off, I like that this is a solid metal pitter. It's powder coated or something which gives it a plastic appearance but it's solid and has a little heft in your hands. The mechanism is simple and straightforward. I did not find that it struggled at all to match up the plunger with the through hole at any point while using it. My biggest issue with this is that the "cup" where you place the cherry for pitting is small. If you only ever get small cherries or olives this may work wonderfuly for you. However, I regularly get cherries that are larger, think the size of a shooter marble. These larger cherries do not fit in the cup, rather they sit on top of it. This causes the plunger to hit unsteadily and smash or tear the cherry. While my other, spring loaded, pitter does do that on occasion as well, it's hard to compare that with nearly all the cherries in a bag being half crushed. Ultimately, this isn't going to get much use in my house, which is disappointing. The product is well made, it's just designed with a narrow range of use.

This is an all-metal construction that just doesn’t work. Larger cherries will not fit. Cherries that do fit are a pain to get out after you pit. The hole for the pits to be pushed through is too large. The machining on this isn’t exact enough and it hits off center and just doesn’t pit well. I do not recommend.

This is the WORST cherry pitter that I ever used. It destroyed every cherry that I tried to pit. Also no way to lock in closed position.

It is a simple design, and it gets the seed out. However, I will not use this particular tool again because it produces juice all over and tears the cherry.
