Step 1 : Push to unlock
Push to unlock, press the handles and push the locking latch to unlock the pitter.
Step 2 : Place one cherry in the hole
Just pop/pull the stem off, put olives and cherries in and line up where the stem was with the punch bar.

A little violent (sprays dark red cherry juice everywhere) but works quick and efficiently. My toddler loves cherries but he's not dexterous enough to pit the cherries himself. This makes it very easy to serve him cherries as a snack!

I am 63 years old and well . . . . I did not know there was such a contraption as this. Of course, I have rarely bought fresh cherries. My daughter recommended I buy the cherries that were on sale at the grocery store, saying they were really good. Once I brought them home, I was cutting around the pits. (Augh! too much trouble!) Amazon to the rescue, right?!! The first time I used it and the pit flew out the bottom in a split second with little effort, I thought "Gosh darn, look at that!!" and laughed. Works every time! Who invented this thing? It's genius! This cherry pitter is a good value and it is sturdy, so I can highly recommend.

This is our second pitter. While this one is easier to use, it sprays cherry juice everywhere (which stains EVERYTHING). So you can only use it outside, and you better cover your clothes!

What I found is, if they look like this, they're all the same, so getting the one that's the lowest price is the best deal. This particular one worked so well I bought one more of this brand for a friend and then found two for the same price of another brand and they all work well. Except for color I cannot tell the difference between them.You have to be careful because about 2% of the time the pit does not come all the way out of the cherry so you have to watch and make sure it's either not dangling on the bottom or somehow pushed to the side inside the cherry. Or at least if you are at my skill level that's what you need to do.

This Cherry Pitter was very hard to use, and it took a few minutes just to pit one cherry.
