Offering oyster shells to hens separately from their food allows them to eat it if they need it. Grit helps chickens digest their food and should always be offered, particularly if the chickens don't free range. Each feeder can hold up to 3 lbs.

Everything arrived exactly as pictured - assembling the base with the main body was easy, and the product feels like sturdy, thick plastic or PVC. It mounted easily to the coop wall - screws were included. My only concern was that some of the grit and oyster shell might leak out the back where it hangs on the screw, but if so it's an insignificant amount. The other thing I would suggest is to add a flat piece on the back of the bottom part of the feeder to sit against the wall and stabilize it from swiveling back and forth on the screw. It doesn't appear to be a big issue, but if you put the screw in too tight into the wall you can't get the cap on and off the top easily for refilling - this means it sits a bit loose and rotates a bit on the screw. It doesn't seem to be a problem - my hens have pecked at it and flicked gravel and oyster shell around with their beaks and it hasn't fallen off the wall or spilled anything. It's just a detail I noticed. Overall I think it's a good design, the graphic on the front with the chicken sitting on the G for Grit and the O for Oyster is super cute. Mine are inside the coop, but the holes in the dish portion the girls eat from is a good idea to drain out any water if they were to be mounted outside where rain or snow might get in.

Really simple design, well thought out. You could build your own, but why when the work has already been done and the price is low.. good product. Mr Craig

What a great idea! This product is the perfect mix of durable, utilitarian, and appealing. I love that it’s made by a small family business- keep the great ideas coming, and include a sound bite of your husband doing a chicken impersonation please! You can’t mention that and not share with the class. You’re killing me smalls!If you have chickens and want a cute, effective, and well thought out grit/oyster feeders (and therefore healthy chickens and eggs), then this is the set for you.

I had little expectation for these (they are from Amazon, after all....) but I was pleasantly surprised! They are great quality! Size is perfect! Super easy to install! Great addition for our chickens!

Good product. Smaller than expected but everything looks good and fits together well. The only complaint is if you take it off the mount to fill it, the oyster shell and grit fall out of the screw hole. The hole should be higher and this would prevent that.

Cute and sturdy. I’m just starting out with chickens. It’ll be a few months before they make it out to the coop and start using these but I’m sure they’re gonna be great! My husband and I are in the construction industry so we think these are well made.
