The water reservoir has legs on the top for easy filling when turned upside down. To lock or unlock the base from the reservoir, simply turn the base 1/4 turn.
Small Enough For Chicks
With the legs completely folded away, it's the perfect height for newborn chicks. As chicks get older, unfold the legs to the next height to keep the water cleaner.
Perfect Size for Chicks to Adults
The feeder can set directly on the ground with the legs folder under. Unfold the legs to raise the height as they grow or when using with adult chickens.
Suitable for Adult Chickens
Raise the legs to the tallest position for juvenile to adult size chickens. This will help keep the mud, dirt, and bedding from contaminating the food and water.

My chickens always knocked their other food container and water over. This one is heavier and off the ground. Less dirty food and water and harder to knock around.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star is I would like the base of the feeder to be a little bigger. The feeder works great for younger chickens/chicks 4- 14 weeks. The chicks go for that feeder 1st when I put it down for them to eat. I think it will be a little harder for the older hens to use since the base is so small. I do like to be able to put feed in from the top that make it a lot easier to use.

These are perfect for feeding and watering your chickens, including chicks. They're a little smaller than I'd realized, but that is my own mistake. They're easy to use and very durable.
