First, let me clarify that the product I ordered and received is for holding oboe reeds only. It will not help clarinet players remotely, because their reeds are single, flat, and very different in size and shape. As a trained oboist, this is the classic design and size for such a case so it is quite similar to ones you might see in the music store or on the stands of professional players. That being said, a reed case is quite an important accessory in the life of an oboist, and a good one can last 10-20 years, sometimes longer. The outside of the case is a soft leather-like material, and I would be a bit concerned that it may not hold up to being tossed around an oboe case or in a young player’s bookbag, but we will see. The latch seems sturdy enough, which is also critical to keeping the reeds inside safe. The velvet lining on the inside is very plush, and there has been some attempt at allowing some ventilation on the sides to prevent a moisture buildup inside the case, which is quite helpful for young players who may put wet reeds away in a rush. There is tight space for 10 reeds, and the depth on top and bottom seems sufficient for the types of reeds that I use. I like that the reeds fit snugly as they should not jostle or come loose in transit, and there is good clearance for even my taller reeds. I will be able to give a much more accurate review after a few months of use and abuse, but to my eye, this is a lovely, well-crafted item that should give you plenty of years of use.

This reed case is quite pretty. I love the miniature hinges and the tiny clasp. The inside is lined with velvet and the outside with man-made leather. The case has just enough room for a humidity control packet and the reeds. I'm hoping they will keep better in here than in the original cases after use. So far, so good.
