All you have to remember is to put the Right Side of the fabric to 'hole' side of the device and you are good to go. it is easier to insert your fabric then cut out how much you need, rather than do it the hard way (like me!) and draw or measure first. Insert your fabric, put in the smaller flat disc until you hear the very distinct click ( no click, no sew!) then cut your fabric, leaving that small 1/4" all the way around (if that much - don't leave more than that - trust me, your yo-yo won't act right and it won't look right when you pull the thread at the end of your project). You need a good strong thread, but not fishing line strong. Mine keeps breaking and I thought polyester would work well. I was told to double my thread and that works okay but be careful because doubled thread has it's own issues.When everything works right, these things are highly addictive to make ... they are very quick and easy and when you have a unique fabric, they are really fun .. it takes 'fussy cutting' to a new level !! And don't forget there are other sizes of these things .. this is just a large one, that doesn't make a very large finished product ... you need an Extra Large YYM to get a 'large' yo yo (and it still isn't very large). Then there is the SMALL one that makes THE CUTEST tiny little yo yo !! :))Get one, of each size ... cold weather is coming and you will need something (else) to do inside.

I saw the Yo-Yo maker in action on a YouTube video, and decided that I needed to try one out. I must say that after I got the hang of it (the first two turned out kind of sad-looking), I am finding them somewhat addicting! They are easy to use, and quickly make up into the flowers.The large size of this Yo-Yo maker gives you roughly a 45mm flower -- just shy of 2 inches. I have used it with quilt-weight cotton, a lining fabric, silk dupioni and a slinky polyester, and it has performed well with all of them -- they just have slightly different effects, depending on the crispness of the fabric.Here's a hint -- you can use the Yo-Yo flower either on the "front" (the side with all the pleating) or the back (mostly smooth) for even more variation. And in addition to just hot-gluing a button to the center, I have done some bead embroidery in the centers for a great look. Or, try gluing (E-6000 is great for this) a lovely cabochon to the center.Hope you have as much fun as I have! I even did my own YouTube video with how to make them. [...]

Good idea but after a few uses I simply went back to doing by hand which was just as quick and easier for me.

Thank you, Clover and Amazon! This little device is so handy! One can quickly create cute flower-like yo-yos for decoration, quilts, etc.. have to admit—-this can become quite addictive! Making yo-yos to attach to crocheted stretchy headbands for DAG!

Works great for making quilt yo-yos, Am a quilter that also likes handwork and used this to make a table runner. Can be used to make many projects. Perfect circles and easy on the hands. Am considering buying other sizes too. Fun tool !

I have just started slow stitching and this gadget uses up small scraps of fabric , that make Suffolk puffs , to embellish slow stitching and other projects it’s very useful as they are all the same size it is also easier to make them this way
