I have used this for a 3 hr cut on mdf. It did very well. Not sure how long it will hold up, but is still sharp.

This is a lovely bit and I use it when carving 2.5D reliefs in wood.

I use this on a Longmill CNC. I do a lot of 3d objects, and my goto bit is a 1/8 ball. However in areas that don’t have much detail, the 1/8 inch bit is overkill and switching to a larger bit like this for those areas half the amount of time required on a project. I’ve put about 40 hours on this bit so far, and have not noticed any dulling.

This is the most delicate bit I own, though admittedly I have little experience with small ball-end bits. Still, because of the combination of availability and quality this is my go-to bit for detail carves.

The 1/4 inch shank makes it tough enough for some deep cuts and the bit is sharp. The nano blue coating should help it stay that way for a while too. Works well.

The Yokishun 1/8" ball nose end mill is fantastic for 2.5D CNC work. With a 1/4" shaft, you're less likely to break a bit, even when doing a full 1/2" deep cut. It's best used for doing finishing work on a relief carving, and the 1/2" cutting length is more than adequate for most jobs. It's cutting as well after several projects as it did fresh out of the package.

Tool feels sharp, coating isn’t easy to scratch off, geometry matches fairly well to description (only a few tenths small in diameter by my standards) and weight is about what it should be from carbide.Having all dimensions listed on the shank is a nice plus if you want to model in a custom geometry tool for simulation purposes. All in all a pretty well made tool it’s hard to tell how it performs after months of use but for now it’s been great.
