Compression bits work well when you need to have a clean cut on the top and bottom surfaces. This bit from Hozly has a 1/4" shank, a 1/4" upcut section and a 1-1/4" cutting length (3" overall length).The cutting edges are sharp and leave a nice finish. I've been happy with it so far.

I have had a lot of issues with down cut bits giving me a lot of chatter, but so far I haven't had that issue with this one. It's super sharp and on the few jobs I've ran on it, it's still sharp as new. I like using down cuts on jobs where I want a clean face with minimal tear out and this one has fit the bill. I was a little iffy on the price for a company I hadn't heard of before, but it's really good so far.

These are great little carbide bits that will work in just about any machine that has a 1/4 inch collet. Sharp and ready to work! Reasonably priced also. Can't go wrong with these if you need this type of cutter. Shank mics up at .0005 under nominal size so it should fit any tool holder, even shrink fit holders without issue. Very happy with the quality of this cutter.

This down-cut spiral bit is wickedly sharp. It’s a 1/4inch shank, 1/4inch width, and has about a 1 inch active cutting length. The seller’s pictures show it all, and I’m not worried about this bit having any issues at all. Only time will tell if the tungsten carbide coating really does make it last over twice as long, but if I have any issues, I’ll update this review. So far, 5 stars.
