They were used for tie downs on a shed. That way they can be tightened if the get loose, with no problems.

It's only a 1 ton max. Not sure about the quality .

Several items:The cable is too stiff for the spool diameter and springs out against the cable guide. It also does not track onto the spool smoothly and generates friction. Requires strong force to pull out the cable. Switching from retracting to releasing the cable is clever but not the least bit handy. After one use I discarded the item.There must be better tools for the price.

Having used come alongs for a good portion of my life I can tell you that this particular one isn’t anything fancy. Everything from the handle to the wire guard is basic and thinner than the good ones. If you want a nice heavy duty one spend some money and get a nicer one. That being said does this one do what it is supposed to? Yes it sure does. I wanted one to keep in the tote in my truck for emergencies and I wasn’t going to be using it that often. Now if I was using this for work or was bug time into off roading this wouldn’t be my choice but as it turns out this was exactly what I wanted. It’s cheap and works just as well as the more expensive ones. I just couldn’t tell you with hard constant use that it would last long and you’d end up replacing it sooner. After all that trash talk I’m still giving it 5 stars because for the price it’s honestly worth every penny. I’d just hate if you didn’t know anything about these you bought it expecting it to be top notch at a bargain price. Kf you need one once in awhile or just to keep in the truck I think you just found your winch.

My come along keeps getting jamed and won't release easily. If I am out working in the field I don't want to have to mess with the equipment trying to get it to work. Not super impressed so far. It seems durable but the actions on it aren't great.
