Love these necklaces. I bought several for gifts for myself, my children, and my best friend. The compass works reasonably well, though it gets stuck on occasion, but the inscription on the back is beautiful and meaningful, the compass charm is perfectly sized and the chain is very sturdy and perfect length for an adult. All together, it looks lovely and makes a beautiful and meaningful gift.

The necklace is made of durable thick metal. The compass is small but when you hold it straight the needle does move. I wouldn’t suggest buying this to use the compass as working compass. You’d need a magnifying glass and frankly I don’t think that’s purpose of it. To me, it’s a stunning necklace. I love it. Men or women can wear it but men should be prepared for how small it is. It’s dainty. It’s definitely unisex but it’s not a big compass you can use outside hiking. It’s a beautiful necklace with a fantastic inscription to wear. A very unique piece.
