Variable speed with a speed dial so you know how much paint or cement to sling before you put it in the bucket.Safety activation on the trigger (trigger lock) is nice as picking up an awkward tool can help you accidentally hit the on button while your friend is trying to scrape the mixing blade (this never happened ... just an example)Packaged well although the box took a beating.The ends of the threaded parts are well protected with dense foam wrap and tape.A spare set of brushes are included and the brushes are super easy to replace. Always remember to check the curvature of the brush you take out to match the curvature of the commutator in the motor so you don't wear your brushes down faster.Satisfied with the purchase. This will be for paint, sheetrock mud, and concrete. Saving me a lot of arm mixing. If your wife complains, give her a 5g paint stirring stick and ask her to stir some mud.

I got this to mix mastic for some tile work i did. It handles about half a bucket at a time, more than that, it smells hot, and i shut it down before it burnt up, or caught fire.

This mud mixer is more substantial than I expected. It is a brushed motor (it comes with an extra set of brushes) and has a speed dial as well as an on switch that can be locked in the on position so you can focus on holding on tight.The paddle seems robust, although I havnt used it with any concrete mix with large aggregate (it specifies not to use it for that use case anyways) and it should last as long as the motor if using it with mud, paint, etc.You can find replacement paddles on Amazon if the need arises and the manual it comes with has a parts list and exploded diagram of every part of the machine--I appreciate the value the company gives us by providing this so you can repair the tool if parts wear out.Overall this functions well, is easy to use, and seems robust. With the parts list it should be of service for a long time.

I had been using my drill to mix mortar and grout; getting the speed right and not too fast so it splashes out and makes a mess was always an issue. In addition, the drill was not designed to be held in that manner and my wrists started to hurt toward the end of the day. I already had a chance to use this, and it works great - once you move up the speed to the rpm you want, that's it. You can repeat the speed every time without making a mess by over-speeding the mixer. It has the power to mix thick thinset as well as stucco cement - definitely the tool for the job.

I've only used this once so far, but it beats the heck out of mixing the cement with a shovel and wheel barrow!I'm always a little leery of the off-brands. Sure they all work (well, most work) when new but how long do they last? I just needed to replace some fence posts and it was well worth it. If I replaced fence posts for a living I would have bought a premium name-brand. But for occasional jome use the price was right!

As a home remodeler, we due a lot of tile work. My right-hand man always used a 1/2" drill to mix the thin set. He is one of these guy's that likes to do things the hard way. Nevertheless, I got this for him. He was skeptical, but now the drill now sits on the shelf unused. He won't be going back. This mixer has plenty of power, and variable speed. What's not to like?
