First off getting it out of the blister pack was a time consuming job, These units are not robust and can easily be damaged. To add to the difficulty the "wire ties" that hold the capillary tube extension in a circle had the ends clipped so they were extremely difficult to remove. Worse the"cable" was bent nearly 90º from the brass block that holds the needle and such. Though the gauge itself is standard, the mounting bracket are not--be prepared to drill new mounting holes and there are no included mounting screws. Testing the unit first is a good idea--insert the capillary end into a bucket of ice water and you should have a reading of 32º F. This unit was 20 degrees off.The instructions to adjust this seem clear. Remove the clear plastic cover. Hmm, is it a screw in or do you pop it off?--no slot for a screw driver but with a fine screw driver you can get it---it does pop off.Now you have a slot that you supposedly can adjust the needle with. Alas, no conventional screwdriver will fit this slot. It is an extremely narrow slot. I am a machinist and have gunsmithing and Jewelers screw drivers and found one that would fit the slot exactly (WARNING! Do not attempt to adjust this unit with a screw driver that does not fit the slot exactly or you will strip the adjustment screw slot). With my fingers in the right place I attempted to adjust the unit but could not--the adjustment screw is frozen in place and despite careful force would not budgeMy walk-in cooler does not have to be inspected but I need to check the unit often as it has iced fish in it.I thought that an NSF certified gauge would be nice but I have to resort to marking the dial (it reads over 20º off) with a black marker to insure that the temperature inside is safe. I cannot find anyway to contact the vendor or manufacturer. Amazon now requires me to make a 48 mile round-trip to return an item so I will probably just keep it but for the price I feel ripped off.the only reason I did not give it a "one star" is that the unit responds quickly to temperature change and seems accurate in measuring the temperature even if the readings are way off.Be aware that "NSF" is a monopoly and sporting "NSF" certified is not an indicator of quality.
