Our 18v makita battery fits and works perfectly, just as claimed, and we just finished a gutter project. My husband nearly cut his finger off trying to use a hacksaw to cut a piece of gutter to length, then we realized we could use these. They performed. (Don’t judge— this was our first attempt at gutters, ever. We will do better next time.). My husband was able to cut the standard 5†aluminum gutters in a perfectly straight line in his first try using these, and the shaped pieces of the gutter weren’t smooshed or distorted. We’re putting gutters on the front porch of our barn next, and these will be the sole cutting tool employed. He’s pleased with the build quality and the functionality, and very pleased to have these in our tool arsenal.

If you've done any work cutting sheet metal, you understand that the usual tools require a lot of hand strength! Even though I have pretty strong hands, I find having an electric, sheet metal cutter to be a real game changer. Really the only negative I can find is the unbelievably bad job of packaging the tool. (See photos)One little thing: This is *not* a "nibbler" - that is a very different tool. It is more accurately called a metal shear. Their intended uses overlap somewhat, but they are not the same tool.I've used this tool to cut a variety of materials thus far, and it has outperformed my expectations. Cutting 18 gauge sheet metal seems like it could be a bit of a stretch, but I think it probably would do it. For the most part, I will probably stick to using it on lighter weight materials. With a fully charged battery, it cuts very quickly and accurately. I measured and the jaws, when fully opened, are about 5/16 of an inch apart. This is more than plenty for cutting the intended materials. (I don't know why anyone would use this on cardboard but, okay...)The blades are very sharp - as are all of the edges on the rest of cutter head. I plan to soften them the next time I am anywhere close to a file - which probably won't be very long since I'll mostly use this to cut metal! This is also a minor thing though because I don't ever work with sheetmetal unless I am heavy wearing gloves.Bottom line: I think this is a great tool that I am very pleased to own. It delivers a lot of functionality, value for the money, and ease of use. I was worried for a bit that there wouldn't be enough power because it is cordless, but this proved to be a non-issue. I highly recommend this tool. (FYI, keeping a light coat of oil on the cutters would be a very good idea. Carbon steel rusts quickly.)

This coreless sheet metal cutting shears are very heavy duty and seem to be well made. The cutter is sharp and easily cuts through sheet metal. I even tried it on cardboard and it cut through like butter. The nice feature is, it takes Makita type batteries (not included). Time will tell how well it will hold up, but for the price, it's a good buy.

Review for the Makita Version.I have a bunch of twelve gauge sheet metal that I had used on a project and have been using the scrap to test power shears. I have ruined several of those roller, drill powered shears because the thick sheet metal would just snap the weak tool. These on the other hand, cut through it just fine. I wouldn't say "like butter" but in a pinch, it would do it. On more reasonable metal, like tin roofing, they did great, still sharp enough to cut card board after too. My only complaint is that it doesn't actually start cutting until 3/8 of an inch or so into the jaws so if you end up cutting into a corner to or something, you have to finish the cut off by hand. I also like that they don't leave behind a 1/4 inch metal ribbon to deal with after like my other power shears. Very happy with them.
