The Good: I liked that it used my DeWalt battery. It was a little tight but still fit. I used it for about an hour total so far and my battery still shows a full 3 bars. I was able to melt/weld some plastic parts together. That worked pretty good. I got a good variety of tips with it. It did melt the solder that came with it but it took me a while to figure out the dial to get the setting to the right temperature. When I turned it slowly to the right temperature, it got there quickly. The Bad: The temperature dial is ambiguous. It spins in either direction without any stops. The temperature setting on the display is erratic and jumps about as you turn the dial if you turn it too fast. It generally jumps in the positive or negative direction depending on which direction you turn it but, it does not increase or decrease the readout proportionally to how much it is turned and sometimes goes backwards if you turn it too fast in the positive direction.Overall I think it will be a good tool and may replace my butane iron I usually use. I may even get another one to keep in my work truck.

I am a big fan of DeWalt and stay way from off-brand add ons. However, I got frustrated with my corded soldering iron and bought this set. I was, and am, very impressed! Not only is it so much easier to use than my old plug-in one, it works really well too. It heats up FAST! Like crazy fast. I'm very happy with the purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Made for a great, portable soldering kit. Heats up fast and hot! Used it to wood burn also.

My expectations were super low for this but man, it's awesome! I got tired of dragging out the extension cord and iron every time the darn rabbits chewed through my Christmas lights so I got this so my life cold be a little easier. I didn't expect much, but wow. It really does work well. Temp control is within a couple degrees of the display, it sleeps when the iron is not in motion. The case is not 3D printer looking like others have reported; it actually looks injection molded. The display is easy to read. The cord is not the junky hard kind; feels silicone jacketed as far as flexibility (though it's not silicone). The irons head is well made and the grip is soft but not cheap feeling. The tip is well made also. My only one complaint is the solder that's included. Throw it away and get some decent 60/40 electronics solder. The stuff it comes with does not melt cleanly or easily.I included pics of the instructions for those that like to read.

Cool concept but, the machine seems to turn way down shortly after it's heated to the correct temperature (so much so im unable to solder) so I have to turn it on then off.
