Works perfectly for my 2025 GLS 450 when changing the oil. Plastic oil drain plug and the plastic tool wasn’t durable. This works spectacularly.

I have had trouble with the old style file handles that are wood. Their function is based on hammering the tang of the file into a prepared slot in the wood handle. Over time, that slot gets reamed out by rugged use of the file and the handle wears out before the file does. Usually, the wooden handle doesn't serve its purpose well at that point. This mechanical handle that fits any flattened, pointed file tang and solves that problem. The handle functions as a clamp: you slide the flattened tang of the file into the clamp and screw it down; it holds the file very well, no slips, no wobbling. Yes, it takes a minute to unscrew the handle from one file and put it on another, but it works better than any other file I've used. Note: it is designed for a flattened, tang such as is found on a bastard file. This particular design would not work with a rounded tang as on a chain saw file or with a file that has a rectangular-shaped tang. Maybe the company makes different adjustable handles for those needs.

Not American made but seems ok. I doubt it will work well for a saw file but I have not used it for that yet. Should work great for flat files.

you heard that right, for about a year Ive been using these handles for what they were intended for, filesbut then it hit me why can't i use this handle for Reciprocating Saw Blades and when i moded the saw blades with my dremel i was blown away with the performanceonce i cut the blade for a longer tang for the handle to hold onto; the handle had a death grip on the metal, there was no wiggling or loosening what so ever and the performance was like a high end $70 silky saw but at a fraction of the costif you're familiar with the "survival market" snake oil sales men; there are plenty of gimmick handle conversions for Reciprocating Saw Blades that will cost your $100-200!!all you need is this $10 solution and you can make blades that cut plastic, wood and metal! i already bought 10 of these for work and emergency survival and plan to buy more. you can even use a knife that doesn't have a handle or the knife broke off as long and you remake the tang the handle will grip itand its only 3.88 oz heavy so this saves me so much space and weight from using a large saw in my emergency bug out bagUPDATEthe next day i went to home depot to see if i can make a cheap light vertical grip conversion. you can see in the picture i found a Husky junior hacksaw for $5 and with a dremel and drill; cut and shaped a vertical handle, the zip ties hold on to the rubber grip really well and it dramatically made cutting tasks easieri shaped it in a way that you can still unscrew the back and switch out blades without having to remove the zip tiesIve already tried cutting steel pipe with a steel saw blade and it worked fine no wrist fatigue using the vertical grip; and i finally have a vertical grip file holder!total with the vertical handle adjustment your looking a 6 oz weight super light for all this cutting power no need to waste time to make a bushcraft bow saw if your going camping or prep for survival

This fit nicely on my large mill file. It has a very secure grip in the file tang. Handle is comfortable to use.Ordered a second one, but the style has changed since Crescent acquired Nicholson. Not as comfortable and smaller diameter. Product photo needs to be updated to reflect new design.

I purchased a big set of files and needed a handle that would be able to switch files very quickly without a lot of headache. This handle is quite easy to use. I was very pleased with the way it easily held the file, clamps down and doesn't let go, I have arthritic hands and I don't have any problem getting this tightened down or loosened up when I need to change a file out. plus its comfortable in the hand when using. Very pleased I would buy another if I needed more than one.

File that is 7/32" thick doesn't fit- Nicholson 14" mill bastard file that is. 3 out of 5 because Universal would fit them all... and it doesn't. But, the item appears to be fairly well constructed. Also, the statement about metal components is slightly misleading- Plastic handle, nosepiece, and knob... but the jaws, screw, and nut are metal and they will take the brunt of the force. I expect that when I have a proper use for it that it will perform nicely.
