Not a simple matter to replace the broken heat indicator on the “Brinkmann Smoke N Grill†- if you have one. Since the lid of this round smoker has a near 2†hole in it - not being able to locate the exact fit replacement part makes the task of replacement a bit complex. It would be easy if the hole in the dome lid was only the size of a temp probe or its 3/8†stud. But since Brinkmann used a full 2†hole and then press-fitted the gauge in it - using anything else calls for some modification.Well trying to keep the work to s minimum - I purchased THIS temperature indicator. I also bought (2) stainless 2†fender washers with 3/8†center holes, and used them to “sandwhich†the gauge onto the lid.After removing the old gauge, the stackup of hardware is as follows: Place the gauge + 1 flat washer on the outside of the dome lid, (then carefully center it on the hole). Now put the 2nd washer, from the inside of the lid, and use the provided smaller washer (a lock washer is best if you have one) and wing nut to tighten it all down while carefully holding it all centered over the hole.I was able to do this on my smoker and it looks like it came that way. This gauge has a suitable heat range for this application since the stainless steel “Smoke N Grill†is a great water smoker, grill, and was/is also able to supplement charcoal smoking by substituting an electric element - which was offered as an option to further diversify the unit’s capabilities.This gauge is well suited and I recommend it for anyone wanting to have that instant visual sense while enjoying their BBQ.

In the future I recommend that the seller verify that all parts are in the box. I have to go to the hardware store to get the wing nut to secure the thermometer to my grill.
