This is a semi-hard case. So not as much protection as a wood box, but also more compact and lightweight. Good trade-off most of the time. Seems well constructed, but only time will tell how the zippers hold up. I bought this for a Conn New Wonder, and it fits... barely. The key guards on either side of the bell make small indentations in the foam the first time you zip it shut. Those are probably permanent. I tried this for my older New Wonder and for a Buescher true tone and it wouldn't zip closed at all with those (larger key guards). So, if you have a Conn New Wonder with serial number above 93000, you're probably good. Any other vintage split bell horn... not so much. I did also try this with a modern sax just for comparison, and it fit very easily and snugly. So if you have a modern sax, I think this would be great option.

Both of my horns have keys on the left side of the bell, which causes the saxophone to sit at an angle in the case, causing the case to be unable to close. I wish there was some way to look up what cases fit what saxophones, because not all alto cases fit all alto saxophones.
