I purchased this tubing for a replacement padding for a tubular step on my jet ski. I think the foam material will be sufficient for this application. However, I measured the tubing of my step with a caliper and confirmed the diameter to be 1". The tubing I received was easily 1-1/4, if not 1-1/2" inside diameter which is way too large for this application. I would suspect that someone using this for pipe insulation would also find this fit to be way too loose. Other reviews complained about their shipment being all compressed or flattened from shipping. The one I received came in a roll and once it sat out for a few days, the compressed foam seemed to return to it's original shape. I am sending this tubing back due to the sizing, however I will order, and try the 3/4" ID.

What a disappointment, this thing was so thin and to make matters worse it was rolled so tight that it was delivered in an envelope.
