With its tight-fitting lid, this double boiler is ideal for creating sauces, such as beurre blanc, and for melting chocolate. I was so impressed with this cuisinart French Classic tri ply double boiler that I bought a 13 piece set of pots and pans in this same product line. That’s serious!Note that this is the only cuisinart product line of pots and pans that is actually made in France, not China, and the handle and pot are both stamped “made in France”. The inside rounded boiler isn’t stamped but I don’t know how they could stamp it based on the rounded bottom. Anyway, am totally in love with my double boiler and looking forward to receiving the full set of pots and pans - French Classic tri ply.

But a great cook does need great pans and these are ultra fantabulous! Yes, I can cook. And I can shop. My Wife hates the amount of time I spend comparing products, reading reviews and getting opinions. I looked at all brands, all styles and all sets with their respective add-on's to see what I felt was the best for me. I like the clad multilayer bottoms. I like the big thick round long handles. How fast they heat up and transfer heat evenly is important. How the handles feel in your hand. I don't care how they look. They live in a cupboard, on the stove or in the sink. I care how they cook and how they feel and handle. I have big hands and mostly all handles are thin, frail and very uncomfortable in my hands even with a pot holder or cooking rag wrapped around. These feel good, are comfortable to grip and all handles are well done and they cook great. They also clean great IF you read the directions on how to cook properly with them. There is one issue... and I expected it, and my Wife has issues with it... they are heavy. But, that is what makes a great set of pans. Remember, these are stainless, not aluminum. If they're not heavy, they're not as good. The smallest skillet could easily be a formidable weapon. LOL.

these are great have cooked scrambled eggs, ham, fried pork chops and more nothing has stuck, clean up was easy have had to use barkeepers friend twice with sponge otherwise dawn soap hand wash no dishwasher. trick is nothing over medium heat you dont need nothing more than that and heat pan to cooking temp before adding oil or what your cooking. they are a little bit heavy than my old ones but these are built like a tank! have not ever had one tip over by itself even empty those other people who claim they do are on drugs holusanating or something. the finish is stunning on them like a mirror and stay that way if you take the right care with of them. FANTASTIC PURCHASE!!!!

Well it wouldn't be this solid if they made it thin enough to do a no drip lip somewhere. But it does drip, so this is not the quickie spaghetti sauce pan. This is for slower simmer stuff.

I bought this pan because I am shopping for my first set of clad cookware, and I wanted to try a pan from this set before I jumped in with both feet and bought the full set for 300+. I am currently using a fairly inexpensive set of KitchenAid stainless pots and pans, as well as a few cast iron pieces and a non-stick frying pan or two for those times when you just need non-stick. Recently though, I have gravitated more towards the U.S. made cookware, and I really wanted to go the All Clad route, but hated the handles and cannot justify the price. So I decided that anything not made in China was fine. Enter these French-made pans.My first impression of the pan was that it was very shiny, and heavier than expected. I love the mirror finish, and it seems easy enough to clean up, but if you don't like water spots you will have to dry it right away. I have not washed it in the dishwasher and although it is safe to do so, I probably never will. My current set is brushed stainless and not clad, just a stamped bottom set, so this is quite a step up. I bought this double boiler set because it was more cost-effective than buying the saucepan by itself, and I did not currently have a double boiler. I have not used the insert, just the pan itself. It's pretty heavy compared to my older 3 qt. saucepan, especially when you add water to it, and the handles definitely get warmer than my old set. The lid handle gets too hot to touch with bare skin when cooking things like rice, where you have to use the lid. But the rice comes out nicely done, fluffy, and not burnt on. I have not had trouble with anything sticking to it, or during cleanup, but I am used to cooking with stainless that is low quality, so if I can prevent food from sticking to that, then this should be a piece of cake. The only con I can see is the weight. I'm no lightweight; I regularly use my cast iron dutch oven with ease, but for the heft, this could use a helper handle. I also think a pouring rim would have been a nice touch. At this point, having used this for only a couple of weeks, I can say without a doubt that it's a lovely pan, very sturdy, with beautiful finish, and great quality. But at the same time, I did not find water boiled faster or food cooked better than with my old pans, further proof that it's not necessarily the tools you use, but the cook who is using them. Could my husband ruin food in this? Sure, but he can ruin food in any pan. If you are shopping for your first ever set of stainless, and you have the funds, I say go for it. Especially if you are considering All Clad at twice the price. If you already have stainless that performs just fine for your needs, buy a piece of this first and see what you think. The quality is certainly there, but you may not like the extra weight. It's going to take some getting used to for me, but I can't wait to buy the entire set!

It’s slightly larger than expected but that’s ok. Quality is great! I’m super happy with my purchase.

The service has been very poor from Cuisinart for my last 2 purchases within a week of each other. I ordered a steamer insert and received it but it was missing a lid. I asked for a replacement and they gave my a refund but then jacked up the price $30 2 days later and said I would have to repurchase. So what was $45, 2 days ago is now over $72. Why didn't they send the replacement? Second items came today which was the double boiler and sauce pan set. The box was ripped open and held together with tape. It looked like the product and box were used. The saucepan had a dent and the was badly scratched. This was going to be a gift for someone. These pots weren't cheap, so I expected them to be delivered in decent shape. I'm starting to think the items they are selling through Amazon are returns. Bad service all around.
