I wanted a way to turn on a fresh air intake fan whenever the HVAC fan turned on in my house. This way I knew I was getting regular fresh air in the house, and I could also turn on the fan manually from my Ecobee thermostat or cell phone when I wanted to have intact air to balance the exhaust fan over my stove. This little device worked perfectly. My HVAC fan only draws 20ma so I had to wrap the wire 5 times in this device. My air intake fan only draws 30ma so I did not need a relay. I just hooked the fans power supply to this. I adjusted the little screw so the contacts closed only when the HVAC fan kicked in. I am so pleased. I only wish someone would make something like this that would allow the sensor to communicate with a remote switch over wifi. Photo is the device before I closed it up in the electrical box.

I used this current sensor to control an hour meter (AIMILAR Mechanical Hour Meter AC 110-250V for Generator ATV Lawn Mower Chainsaw Compressor Tiller Chipper AC 110V 120V 220V 230V) on a mini-split air conditioner. Because the AC compressor is controlled via an inverter, there was no easy way to register compressor hours directly (no low voltage control or constant high voltage to the compressor). I decided to use this to measure current flow on the 230VAC input. I set the trigger current so the timer is activated only when the compressor is running. Works well and no warranty voiding modifications were required to the condenser. Mounted in a box after the service disconnect before the condenser, just ran 1 line leg through it.

Cheaply made and it did not work as described on Amazon website. No instruction were provided. Waste of money. It has 2 LEDs a green and red and a sensitivity adjustment screw. I can guess that the screw is supposed to adjust an internal relay current level so that it can be either open or closed. In my case it did not do a darn thing. Only green LED can be turned on or off. I don't see how a CT can have enough voltage and current to drive a relay without external power. I doubt that similar products can work.

Worked as advertised. Used it to sense current to fan on gas furnace to turn on my humidifier. After reading negative reviews of it not working, I tested it first on my workbench. Fed a single wire of a 120V line through the device to a simple 100W incandescent light bulb (measured draw of 0.82 amps) and turned sensitivity screw counter clockwise to L which apparent means needing lower current to activate till light went red and switch closed (checked with continuity checker). So L mean lower current to activate and H means higher current required to activate which is the opposite of the typical meaning of "sensitivity" lol. Then hooked into a switch box with fuse going to my furnace (see photo) Ran a black wire carrying the switched hot wire through the device. With just fan running turned sensitivity multi turn screw pot clockwise toward H to turn off switch (light goes green) and then backed up to L to light just turned red so just sensitive enough to pick up about 4 amps draw of my furnace fan. (When fan and furnace both on it draws about 6 amps) Switch is wired in series with my humidistat wire so both must be on to activate my humidifier relay which uses 24V AC and draws about 80 mA well within the 500 mA maximum current of the switch. Would give it 5 stars but should have a small inserted in the package single page of directions and help. Its counterintuitive from sensitivity screw clockwise to H requiring more current to activate switch (less sensitive) to red for relay on and green for relay off (but senses some current or neither light would be on) opposite of traffic lights lol! Also wish you didn't have to bring a power line carrying the load through the device, but that is because it also powers the device not needing a battery or other power source to run the relay. So be sure you have an accurate clamp on AC amp meter to work with this device as well as a basic digital or meter volt ohm meter.

I used this to sense when a variable speed pool pump turned on and turn on a relay to power a the salt generator.Tried first without the additional relay as the salt gen rating was around 0.5A (1A fuse). Worked for a couple test cycles then got stuck in the on state and both leds went out. I guess I exceeded the 0.5A rating slightly and blew it.After replacing and adding a 250v 2 pole relay to power the salt generator it works fine.

A much less expensive alternative to the Aprilaire humidifier current sensing relay. The operation is simple:Turn off the power to your furnaceRemove the panels from your furnaceFind a suitable place near the blower to mount the relay and mount itRoute one of the wires that goes to the blower through the hole in the relay. In my case, I had to extend the wire about 18" to make a comfortable run.Now when the blower turns on, the relay closes. When you install your humidifier, you'll interrupt the power which is going to the solenoid on the humidifier with the two contacts on the relay. How/where you do that depends on which humidifier and which humidistat you have installed.

I'm using it to control a power relay that disconnects selected devices to avoid excess current draw. I only wish the connections on this device were more robust.

This works exactly as described. I used it on a combination boiler in my new shop to activate a miniature relay coil on some additional controls. The pickup adjustment allowed me to dial in exactly when the contacts activate and the led indicators made that a simple adjustment to achieve.Great product!

Works great. I use it to turn on a light to indicate a hot water boiler has turned its element on. Fabulous little device.
