Whatever your task at hand whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close, CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. CURT custom wiring connectors are the easiest way to outfit your vehicle with a CURT trailer wiring connection. They are built with some of the most advanced technology in the industry, and each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector also called a T-connector, utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Rather than requiring you to cut, splice and solder into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM-compatible plug and instantly provides a standard, universal vehicle-to-trailer wiring connection, typically in the form a 4-way flat. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit.

I really like the design of this hitch. I had been putting off installing one after reading about the other style that requires drilling the frame and taking the exhaust off the hangers. This design requires no structural modifications and there is no need to drop the exhaust. The hitch is rated for 4000 lb which exceeds the Outback's tow capacity of 2700 lb. The quality of the hitch is very good, welds are good and finish is durable.I would also buy a pry tool and fasteners, for example something like https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07WHRL17D because the fasteners on the underside of the car are brittle, grimy, and easy to break. Even if they don't break they are stiff and do not go back into place very easily. Also doing this on a warm day in the sun helps to soften the plastic bumper fascia. This hitch is compatible with many trim styles over many model years. Do not just cut the suggested pattern without looking first. There is a fastener directly in the midline which was the center of my cut. I did not need the full 4.5 inches of width and depth ended up being well over 5 inches. Figuring out the cut dimensions was the longest part of the install since I took the fascia on and off a few times. If the bumper fascia didn't fit back on easily I took about 3/8 in depth and checked again, after a few times it went on smoothly. The whole process took under 2 hours and a lot of that time was spent trying to get a low tolerance cutout in the plastic. This product doesn't appear to be connected to Amazon's car compatibility system. Maybe that is why it has fewer reviews than similar products. I looked up compatibility on Curt's website and searched Amazon for the model number to find this listing. It is a great value with the hitch and wiring harness selling for a similar price to other reputable brands selling just the hitch. The wiring harness is a straight forward install. The battery does not need to be disconnected if you put the fuse in last. The wiring can be stowed in the spare tire well, completely invisible until you need to use it. It is always a good idea to have the wiring installed if you are installing a tow receiver. Even if you just plan to carry a bike rack there are low profile lights available that can increase visibility plus friends will see your new receiver and may ask to borrow for other purposes where signal lights are needed for safety. I am pleased with the thoughtful design, quality, and price of this product.

This product uses the same studs and nuts the hold the bumper bar making it very sturdy. Look at Curt video and or Utube to understand how to remove bumper cover. Get plastic trim tool set and push pin remover tool. Helps to use floor jack under frame (after transfer box) and lift until tires are almost lifting off ground. instructions were tucked into receiver opening and found most of the way through installation. Hidden push pin above each tire well. Use light and cell phone in selfie mode to see push pin. Get some replacement push pins. Some break and they are hard to reinsert in the tougher locations. Be generous in cutting bumper cover around hitch. Too tight means removal of bumper cover to recut. Can be installed without help.

I have all the tools and this was an easy instal without any help. The bumper is a tight fit after the install but I got it on there without any modifications to the styrofoam.

Very nice fit on my 2018 Outback. Required a cut off the underside of the bumper wrap and ziptie to secure. Otherwise, very straightforward installation.

It was easy install. The hardest part was to route the wire harness. Instruction are online and easy to follow. The only real issue I had was putting the panels back on my car.

Only issue I had was with cutting the bottom of the bumper to fit around the hitch. For whatever reason where it tells you to cut isn't correct. Highly recommend laying your bumper up where it belongs marking it and cutting far deeper than you expect to have to cut. Along with the location of the cut recommendation being off the depth of the recommended cut is off as well. Had to cut about 6 inches vs the recommended 4. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet but the discreet look is a big win in my book.
