I'm very impressed by the build quality of these flush cutting pliers, as well as the results. I bought the Tronex 5223 pliers to make square, flush cuts to the ends of fine wire, which it does remarkably well. Refer to the picture below, showing the cuts made to 20 and 26 ga. copper wire, compared to a normal diagonal cut. With my hands on the larger side, I wasn’t sure which handle size I needed. I chose the 5†model because I suspected the smaller grips would offer finer control, which was the correct decision for me. Regarding the stop screw: the pliers came without this screw set properly, so I devised my own method, which follows. My objective was to set the stop screw so the tips *just approach contact* under firm hand pressure. This way, the finest wire is cut without marring the plier tips. To do this, I used heavy duty Aluminum foil between the cutting tips, and set the screw so the very tips just begin to bite into the (0.016mm) metal.

I usually work with 26gauge wire (typically in gold-filled and sterling) and then I’ll stray to gauges 28-22 with these cutters, MAYBE 20 gauge. For a while I was making wire wrapped beaded chain almost daily, and I was eating up cutters every 3-6 months. I worked at a bead store for 4 years, and that was typically the case with cutters. I asked a friend who owns a bead store, and she recommended these cutters to me. The price was a bit steep, as I usually only liked to spend no more than $12 (because of how often I tore through expensive ones!), but these guys are WONDERFUL!!! Especially working with that teeny wire, it gets in allll those impossible little places. I even took these cutters back on some of my previous jewelry, and it was incredible how much smoother I got the trickiest spots. SO WORTH IT!

These are the most expensive cutters I’ve ever bought - breath-taking - but they are also the most precise. Love than I can get right up where I want to cut, and not nick an adjacent wire. Love the flush cut. Superb quality.

These pliers fit well in the hand, require less force/effort than cheaper alternatives, and leave a clean cut. Although more expensive, I'm impressed with the difference in quality, which will be worth the price in the long run.

This is the best, strongest, most efficient flush cutter I have ever used. Period. If you use this tool often, it is well worth the price. You will take special care of this tool and not throw it in the pile with other tools like happens so often.

Like another review stated, they dent pretty easily if you use anything heavier than 24 gauge wire. I ruined them thinking they would work on 20 gauge wire. I've only had them a couple months, I should've just kept buying the cheaper cutters since they dent just as fast.

I have been using Tronix brand for many years. They are excellent, comfortable to use, I can use them all day and not get tired. Excellent, smooth cut every time.
