My keys were still functional for my 2012 accord, but on one the screw fell out and had to be taped together, and on the second, the plastic was cracking off, effectively also not holding the key together either.I bought this case kit and it worked PERFECTLY! I was surprised it fit so well, and the actual put-together was easy. They also gave you the small screwdriver so I didn’t have to have anything else except the kit.Best $10 I ever spent.

It is NOT cheap flimsy plastic. It is sturdy. It did not snap back together easily. I had to shave a little bit off of the plastic piece that you slip the key into. Just one end where the taper is. It then snaped together fairly easily. No slop between the key and the case. I noticed that you had to push the key into the ignition switch to turn the engine off. This is probably why the plastic is breaking if you do not push the key in before turning the key to the off position. The electronics in the fob has nothing to do with starting the car, just the remote actions as indicated on the fob. It appears that the case should last a long while when used properly.

This kit worked for me. I have a 2005 Honda CRV. The original battery in the two remotes lasted over 18 years, but I thought that I should change them. One of the remotes, I had no problem changing the battery. The second one, the little screw stripped and I could not get it apart. The case was also slightly cracked at the screw. I decided to buy this kit so that I could break the case and get the screw out with a vice grips. That approach worked for me very well.Regarding this product, I did note a few things. (The instructions that come with the kit don't completely cover the topic.)1. You have to break the old case to get the metal key blade out of the old case.2. The case is a bit difficult to get the key holder in and get it snapped, but mine did go together without modification.3. I did not initially notice this in the product listing, but I copy it here."If your original remote has a transponder chip inside the shell you will have to glue it inside this shell! If you don't transfer the transponder chip the car will not start."My car does have a transponder chip. Mine did not work until I transferred it to the new case. The transponder in my key fob looked like a small capsule (about 1/8 inch in diameter and 3/8 inch long). I did not glue it in, just in case this case does not last and I have to do it again. I put the transponder chip in the same space where it was in the original case. There is a space in this new case where it fits. Instead of glue, I added a little piece of Styrofoam so that it did not rattle around.4. The screw that comes with this kit seemed to fit better going into the metal key blade in the same direction as the original case. I had some difficulty with the screw going in. I took it apart again and reversed the metal key blade, and it seemed to go in easier. I think that the original screw was a machine screw, and the one that comes with the kit appears to be a self tapping screw, but it did work for me and tightened down nicely. The final product works well.

I'm completely satisfied with this. Now it doesn't come with a new casing for your chip so you'll have to (this is how I did it) remove your chip (Scissors or whatever) from your key case and glue it (or place it, it ain't going anywhere anyhow) into the new case along side the buttons and you might have to make the hole where the screw will go through, the smaller hole, a big bigger like I did using a drill. So a little diy turning a 2 minute process into a 5-10 minute process, but it wasn't hard and it was worth saving tons of money in the end. If you can do that then problem solved, money saved, key looks good. Cheers.

When faced with two broken keys to my Honda Pilot I didn’t want to pay 160 each at the dealership so I went to Amazon and found these. They were super easy to replace and switch out. Worked perfectly. Great savings. 2 for $15 was amazing.

I needed both fob/key outer shell for 2003 Honda accord. These came quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Instructions are super simple and they look great. So happy I got these covers. Just BEWARE!!! It does not bring the emobilizer chip that comes with original key so your car will not turn on !!! It will crank but not turn over !!! You must somehow take the chip out of your original Honda fob case, it’s a small box next to the batter powered button box !!!

I ordered this when the plastic casing cracked on my 2008 Honda key. A friend of mine had just priced replacement keys for the same issue and the car dealerships were charging $200 to $300 dollars! For less than $10 I got TWO hard black plastic key covers and 2 tiny screwdrivers which saved me hunting for the perfect sized screwdriver. I switched over the metal key part (the portion cut to match your car) and the innards (containing the 3 buttons, chip and battery). It saved me a fortune and I have a spare in case it happens again. The only drawback was that there were NO INSTRUCTIONS contained in the package which would have been helpful. Luckily I recalled some instructions on the product page on Amazon in the pictures which were sufficient. A picture of those same instructions in the bag would have been very helpful. I also had a difficult time getting the plastic to fully snap together where you attach the key to the key ring before screwing the 2 front and back pieces together. This took about 10 minutes of very frustrating fiddling and finally some firm persuasion. Save yourself a couple of hundred dollars and move over the innards to a new shell/case!

This is a reasonably priced option to make a key that cannot start the car.If you actually want to use your car and drive it, it is USELESS!!!THE CAR WILL NOT START WITH THESE KEYS, BECAUSE IT NEEDS A TRANSFORMER WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED!!!
