How to use
1. Wrap free-end clamps 3/8-inch or 1/4-inch roll band and clip around boot.
2. Tighten the band by turning the handle on the tool. When sufficient tension has been applied, rotate the tool over the boot, bending the band back onto the clip.
3. flipping the lever (at the front of the tool) forward, use built-in cutter Cut the band to the correct length.
4.To complete clamping, fold down the remaining tail of the band into the clip and secure it by tapping down the ears of the clip.

I had one heck of a time trying to tighten the CV boot clamps. First off they kept on slipping off and even when I could get a grip, I didn't have the strength to make a dent in trying to compress the clamp. Do yourself a favor and get the one where you can squeeze the clamp with a socket.

The pliers are weak. Tried to use it on an OEM CV Boot clamp and it couldn't stay on the clamp. Slips off easily and couldn't apply appropriate leverage to pinch the ear closed. Poor functionality.Update: Tried using the clamps that came with this kit with a better tool and the things are so cheap and thin. The teeth just pull back and curl up away instead of biting and digging in as you pinch the ear clamp. It just slips and pops off as you pinch the ear with the teeth deformed and bending the wrong way.

The pliers used to lock the clamps that come with the kit are no good, poorly made and do not work. The banding tool works somewhat. I was able to band the boots onto the cv axle with the bands that came with the boots. However the bands they sent only work with the pliers that don't work so they are of no use. Stay away from this kit or any pliers that resemble the type in this kit...
