This D-ring split shackle with a snatch block is considered a good combination because it allows for a secure and versatile connection point when using a winch to recover a vehicle, effectively increasing the pulling power of the winch by redirecting the line and providing mechanical advantage, especially when needing to pull at an awkward angle.

Rigged it up, today, to pull some 600kcmil wire into a transformer, rigging this above the conduit,so we could pull it with a machine. The pulley assembly took the weight just fine, and the split shackle, while not required to be one in this application, will be nice, in that we can rig this without the necessity of a carabiner. Very good product!

This is a very nice and convenient shackle.- I assume this to be quality steel. Based on my highly-calibrated hand, I’d say these have a tiny bit more heft and hardness than the galvanized ones I’ve held….But I wouldn’t want to be smacked with either.- This shackle does not have a CE stamp, but it does have an “8T” stamp. So I’m assuming that Ambull is claiming an 8 Ton WLL, which is nearly twice as much as standard 3/4” shackle that typically has a 4 ¾ Ton WLL. (The product listing also claims a similar strength). This is even more interesting considering the design of two opposing open hooks.- For such little magnets, they do a surprisingly well job of keeping the hooks together.- The double-nut pin is an interesting design as well, and the nuts have set screws to keep the nuts in place (and deter theft). Maybe don’t overtighten the set screws though, as to not damage the set screw or shackle pin threads.- The snatch block/pulley for cables/rope is a welcomed and appreciated inclusion, as are the “plastic” rubber washers to reduce wear and rattling.- The fit and finish on these is very smooth. The pin aligns well to the holes, and threads are also smooth.- Admittedly, the ability to quickly attach/detach straps to this shackle without having to fiddle with a shackle pin is really convenient.Bottom Line:I don’t normally comment on price, but split shackles seem to be somewhat novel and cost much more than regular bow shackles. That these claim to be stronger than regular shackles, and that the split shackles are more convenient to use, and that this includes a snatch block, may make it worth it, especially with frequent use.

This split shackle is awesome! The fact that it's split, makes it easy to use and helps to keep the rope or chain on. That to me makes it safer in my opinion.It's nice and heavy. The material is very strong and will hold up when put to the test. The shackle opens up easily, and you can even take it apart by taking out the central bar that holds the shackle together. The threads are well done, so unscrewing it is a breeze.This is good to have, just in case, especially if your a jeep owner or love to go off roading.
