The handle can be positioned to provide a comfortable grip or to attain maximum leverage. The ram cap can be adjusted using the included 0.008"- and 0.015"-thick shims to adjust the ram forward and backward and to compensate for wear. The set screw adjusts the ram sideways. The smooth action gears enable fine control over ram movement with the lever, and the open base and slotted table plate provide support for solid objects as well as an outlet for arbors and shafts to pass through. The plate can be removed or rotated to one of its 5 openings of varying diameters depending on the requirements of the application. Two 0.39"-dia. holes are located on the base to enable bench mounting. Mounting hardware is not included. Press is assembled.

Arbor presses are hand-operated tools that apply high-pressure force to objects through a levered ram. Common applications for an arbor press include installing and removing components such as arbors, bearings, rivets, or compressing an item.

Dake Machine Tools manufactures arbor presses, hydraulic presses, drill presses, power hammers, band and cold saws, belt grinders, tube benders, and auto feed systems. The company, founded in 1887, is headquartered in Grand Haven, MI.

"Buy once, cry once" is my motto when it comes to important tools that will work on more important objects. I simply cannot believe that any of the cheap Chinese products come anywhere close to the beefy quality of this little beast. I read comments about frames cracking, handles not fitting, handles breaking or falling off, play in the rack&pinion due to poorly located bearings, and any of a dozen or more "issues" with the foreign-made units. Do they cost a lot less? Sure, and you get what you pay for. I congratulated my son's unborn son on being the new future owner of this thing.

This thing is American quality. It’s also super expensive. I think they are priced so high because they last forever and need very little in the form of maintenance or parts. As Dale said in one of their videos, they have been making these for over a 100 years and still don’t know what the half life is on them. That said, because these are simple machines, it was hard to not spend less money on a bigger press that was made over seas. There truly isn’t much to screw up on these things. So I have no doubt I bought quality, and I accept a premium for American made (and made well), the price is still hard to justify. In the end I do not suffer buyers remorse. I know I’ll have this for my lifetime and able to pass it on.

This arbor press does a great job stamping out gold seals for certificates and liturgies.

Solid, well machined and all surfaces seem true. Looks to be good, fine grained iron unlike some of the "bargains". This tool should easily outlast me and whoever inherits it. It's how stuff used to be made.

This is a MAGNIFICENT piece of machinery! I compared this to ones not made in the United States and there is just no comparison in quality, craftsmanship and heft. Made in Grand Haven, Michigan I willingly made more for this Arbor Press. My son was/is extremely happy with this.

Excellent machine. Very sturdy and stable, smooth action. I was able to modify the shaft to fit accessories for a guitar fret press and it seated the frets very firmly and evenly.
