I love it! Works perfectly for cleaning out my horses water troughs. Dumping water troughs every time they get hay and small debris was a lot of work. The net is strong and although small holds a good bit of hay with one sweep! It does have a fairly solid bottom and makes water draining a bit longer, but it is also fairly shallow, so that is not a huge problem. You just have to realize you will have to allow it to drain, if you don't want to splatter water when you remove it from the pond or trough in my case. But dripping water in the pasture is not a problem for me. However, it does keep me from dumping a lot of water and flooding the area where many hooves will be trampling through daily. It works great for me!

I've used the Pondmaster skimmer for several years and it is durable, sturdy, light weight and easily used. When this one wears out I will purchase another!

I have a small-ish 3 tier pond in my front yard and I bought this net to combat excessive algae growth and to pick random debris that fall in the pond. I think overall, the net is pretty good. If I could, I would probably give it a 3.5/5 but since half stars aren't an option here we go.Onto why I think this:Note* - I've had this item for a few months and have used it ~15 times. So far, no degradation or rips in the net. Take that time frame for what you will.Pros:The quality seems to be high. It feels like it will last a while and the net is light so that it's easier to do ninja moves while scooping out the funk. The net itself also seems to be of high quality. Water seeps out through the net easily while trapping the debris that you've fished out. The mesh itself it pretty closed so it will trap pretty small particles.Cons:I think the biggest issue I have with this net is the depth of the net. It's pretty shallow, not really good for getting large amounts of "gunk" out of the pond and it really is more of a maintenance type net. This coupled with the relatively large rim of the net makes it so that skimming the bottom of a pond for gunk is only somewhat effective. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, the pole itself is short to medium. Even though my pond is on the small side, it makes it less efficient to have to contort my body to get those harder to reach areas.Overall, pretty good. I bought this to replace my larger net and I think it's been pretty good at it. I really wish the depth of the net was deeper. Had it been deeper, I may bump it up to 4.5-5 stars.

I do like this net, I use it for my double tiered Henri Fountain. Get's out all the debris such as leaves and spruce cones that fall in the top bowl. The bottom basin is about 6 inches in depth but 6 feet in diameter and this works very well, don't have to bend over, its the perfect length pole to scoop up everything from bird crap to pine needles and just flip it out of the net. The net is small enough to pick up what I need and flip the stuff out very quickly. I also have the pump portion of this fountain in an underground basin with a lid (its actually a sump-pump because garden fountain pumps don't work very long) and this skimmer reaches down and pulls out the silt that collects there. For those who have large concrete fountains this works great, and I have also found that hydrogen peroxide, 64 ounces split top and bottom, will clean my algae-green fountain buildup without damaging the pump or patina or hurt the birds.

It seems sturdy where the pole and the net come together. The overall size of the net frame is a good size as I can get between large rocks that are in our pond. It is a bit shorter in length than what I was hoping for, so measure the span in which you need to reach. I have to squat in order to reach the bottom and center of our pond and some areas, I cannot reach at all. I wanted this to scoop out the junk on the bottom of the pond. The net itself is durable but when you scoop out the junk, the net material is not very porous so excess water is hard to drain out and I have to shake the net a bit so the water can seep to the bottom of the net. The net is also shallow, I was hopping for a deeper net.Since I had to shake the net to get the excess water out which was very time consuming, I now I scoop, then dump the contents into another container with a screen and just continue scooping and dumping into the other container, after the water strains from the screen, I just dump the layer of junk off the screen into the trash. That seems to speed up the process.

It turned out to be just what I expected. It's made well, very durable, it was just like it was shown in the picture and with fast delivery! It did however, come in a very large box. I had ordered two of them so money could have been saved if both of them were sent in the same box. The box was large enough to fit 20 of these into it. I bought this particular skimmer net because I have horses. Their water troughs get so many pine needles floating on top of the water that I had a hard time finding just the right net with mesh small enough to catch the pine needles, yet not to long or short of a handle to be able to reach right over the fence with it and still reach the water trough. It even skims off all the little gnats and bugs floating on the water. It's to cumbersome to have to open the gate and go into the pasture every time I wanted to skim off the water in the trough. I am very happy with this skimmer net and would definitely recommend it for people in the equestrian world. It's a nice tool to hang on the gate where you need it. It even had a loop on the end of the handle for hanging it. All the other ones I looked at didn't have that feature either. Love it!!!

Used this for skimming algae from a large pond. The netting is very sturdy and held heavy amounts of algae. It’s designed more for small ponds but is very sturdy and well made. The handle is shorter than I’d like, you can’t reach more than about 12†off the shoreline, so keep that in mind if you’re using it for anything other than a backyard pond.

Great skimmer. The only improvement it could use is if the handle was made a little longer or adjustable to lengthen.
