Wow! Dang Wow! Double-Dang Dangity Wow! Double-Dang Dangy Dangy Hot-Diggity Wow Wow Wow!Yup. Dandy and handy. And CHEAP! Sharp, easy to handle, fine for awl work (piercing) and line scratching (if you can tolerate a round scratch marker). I'm a carpenter who began in the late-1960's so I have decades of wearing-out a variety of awls, scratch and edge markers, bore alignment tapers and other wood-/metal-working pins around. Why has it taken so long for this design to pop up? Where did it come from? When did it get here? HOW COME NOBODY TOLD ME ABOUT THIS TYPE?Finally, I can't reliably judge metal durability and hardness of this Dasco awl other than by long-term use, but based on scratch quality, repeatability and endurance of sharpness after a month of (entirely typical) abuse, I'm beginning to wonder if the quality of metalwork on this by Dasco hasn't been very high. That's unexpected, considering the cost.In summary, what can I say ... Wow!

Great product. Length as described, but diameter at sharp end larger than I had hoped.

Due to leftover burs that were not cleaned up or noticed by quality inspection, I had to return this awl.

Seems like a lot of these high value manufactured goods have very slight flaws. almost like you're buying a defect item where it was in a defect pile a clearance prices. This is a solid heavy awl. Just the tip came slightly bent. Just kind of filed out since not worth the hassle of the return but I'm starting to suspect this kind of thing is almost intentional as I read a prior review with the same issue. The packaging was decent so it wasn't damaged in transit. Bottom line - pretty good value but probably would not buy knowing it came with a bent tip.

This awl is worth every penny. It’s very well made and holds up to anything you can put it through. It’s everything they say it is and more

As another reviewer noted, it looks like this seller has bought a "lot" of seconds and is selling them as new. Or the factory just has poor QC. The non-painted part of the shaft was crudely ground and is neither perfectly round or perfectly straight. The tip is also poorly sharpened... looks like a tiny chisel rather than a pinpoint. Fixable with a grinder, but I shouldn't have to. The blue paint has a white blotch.

It does it’s job, but you need to be careful using it because the tip isn’t straight. It curves to the side. I don’t need it for many things, just some small projects where it doesn’t make a big difference but it was only like $6 so….you pay for what you get. If you need it for bigger tasks or on a regular basis, invest in something nicer.
