My alternator was not charging the battery. After doing some research, I realized more often than not it's the voltage regulator that is bad, not the alternator.So I bought this, and it fixed my charging issue. The alternator was fine.

Had to replace a defective one, exact same, first one lasted about 8 years, not too bad I guess. Problem was cycling intensity of the ilight bulbs, Checked the voltage at cigarette lighter, anywhere from 14.5-15.9 volts. With a new unit, now reads 14.5-15 max.

Worked well for a week - then failed. Also, Ign and Fld wiring connectors (spade plug and screw fitting) are reversed.

Had one burn out but it turned out there was a short in the field winding or brush holder in the alternator it was driving. Wasn't a dead short so the alternator was still charging until the first regulator burned out then worked for a bit longer with the second regulator but finally the field circuit went open and the regulator was still trying to drive it.
