My compost pail came with two filters, one square and one round. Both filmsy, a complete PITA to fit into the lid, and they didn't want to stay in place. This one is at least twice the thickness (maybe more than that) and fits into the lid perfectly, completely blocking the air holes on the top. Easier to install and it stays tightly in its place. Wish I'd bought these when I got the compost pail and hadn't spent so much time fighting with the filters it came with.

There are so many choices for charcoal filters on amazon- I looked at many till deciding on these. They’re thinner than what I got with my compost pail but work just as well. They fit my 6.75†BB&B compost lid perfectly by bending up into the lid and needed no cutting.They block the smell as so far block the fruit flies.Overall, good price for the quantity and I recommend.

These needed to be trimmed just a little to fit, but easy to do and work great. The price is well worth it. I will be buying again!

The filters look fine, perfect fit for the diameter, but they are only 5 mm thick, as opposed to the advertised 10 mm thickness. It was not worth returning them, especially since I could not find an alternative product with the same diameter. They work fine, but I wish the description was more accurate.
