These and the handle (RP17443 ) that goes along with it allow you to replace the Delta crystal handle with a lever. We like the look and operation of the lever better, and redid all our sinks. It is easy to set the water temperature without turning the light on at night. It isn't perfect, though. It can twist side to side (along the handle axis), which can get it stuck in odd temperature settings. Shutting it off straight down gets it centered to fix it. For our faucets (early 1990's era Deltas), I kept the old insert (cam assembly) with the straight rectangular channel as it worked better than the one they suggest. Shutting it off all the way was still an issue until I ground the fin on the down side of the stem off (leave the other side).

UPDATE: Delta Faucet apparently cares enough about their image to have someone (Jon in this case) prowling the web to try and make things right. Jon set up the case for me, I called Delta and they have me fixed up. Moral of the story, don't buy Danco and possibly don't be lazy trying to avoid a bit of soldering work on you plumbing. Thank You Delta, Jon, Customer Service Rep guy who's name I have forgotten.ORIGINAL:This works pretty good but $25? Come on. To keep the same valve body and get rid of the ugly, cheap looking acrylic handle it gets a bit pricey. Delta isn't known for quality but it seems they are trying to step it up a bit. If I had known how expensive and what a problem this was going to be I would have replace the valve body. Additionally, don't get the kit from Home Depot made by Danco, it is a piece of carp. The 'fancy' metal handle was hilariously wobbly but I was able to fix it with weldbond. I should have turned it on first because water started coming out of the handle. Luckily I could hacksaw the arm off to go in and replace with actual Delta parts.Like others, it has been difficult to find the sweet spot where this will actually turn the water off. If you don't get it exactly right you should expect lots of dripping. The springs and rubber seals in the valve body are new.

I used this ball to convert an older fixture with the clear "crystal ball" handle to a chrome metal lever handle. It works, but the holes in the conversion ball are different sized and they are in different positions, so they allow much less water to flow. Also, this conversion ball isn't polished very smoothly and it seems likely to the it will wear the rubber seals out quicker. See the photos with the new conversion ball on the left and the old ball on the right.

If you want to do this Knob conversion (or need a replacement ball RP20111) you will NOT find one cheaper anywhere else on the web - cheapest price I could find was a sale price of $34.70 (and did not include S/H/Tax) - so this is a good deal for $23.I wanted to change my Acrylic Round Valve Handle for a Delta Model: B512LF to a Single Metal (Chrome) Lever Handle. It's easier for older folks to operate a lever rather than a knob handle. In essence, I was converting this Delta Bathroom Faucet from a Model B512LF to a Model: B510LF - everything is pretty much identical between the two except one has a what I would call an old fashion round Acrylic Knob for Handle - I wanted a Single Chrome Lever Handle. To do this I have to replace the current Ball Valve: RP 212 with: RP20111 - all because I wanted to change the knob. The old knob is screwed on from the top (the RP 212 valve has a stem that a screw bolts in from the top). The RP20111 is built to accept a screw from the horizontal plane (from the side). Not sure why this ball valve costs so much more than other Delta Ball Valves: A RP212 and RP70 (other Delta Ball Valves) costs at most around $6 each. Don't forget you also need to purchase the new Chrome Lever Handle which is around $13 from Amazon. In addition, you will need new cam and packing for the new ball, and should probably replace the seals and springs beneath the ball.Conversion was easy (and cost around $40 per faucet - I did two), however, I'm not sure I like it. With the conversion, you have to get the lever at just the right position to avoid any drops of water from coming out of the faucet, whereas before with the old knob, you had just a little more wiggle room for the position of the knob to turn the water completely off. For Just another $10 I could have bought a new Peerless (owned by the same company as Delta, and the guts of the faucet looks identical) Single Handle Faucet from Amazon!

I had an old sink handle and shower handle that were the ugly and dated "crystal knob" Delta style. They were not only ugly but also difficult to adjust to the proper temperature and flow.I found instructions on Delta's website for replacing the crystal knob with a single lever. [...] It required this part because the crystal knob fits onto a diamond-shaped stem, but the lever fits onto a circular-shaped stem.I only swapped out the conversion ball itself. The Delta instructions suggested swapping out the adjustment ring, cam, and packing as well, but I didn't have those parts and thought I'd give it a try. The sink replacement took a couple tries to get ball in the right place, but now it works perfectly. The shower I got on the first try. These handles are so much nicer than the old crystal knob. I'm very happy with this replacement.
