The kit was excellent, and the instructions were clear. The yeast and nutrients for the yeast are top-level. I am so enjoying this process. I know that others have complained about the quality of the carboy jug and bottles, but like all things manufactured, hidden flaws can show up when the pressure of fermenting gases builds up. Mine are doing fine; the bottles and jugs can easily be replaced if they should crack or break, but the knowledge they give you in this kit and the proper crucial ingredients are priceless. Half the fun is trying not to get hosed by the fermenting “Must†under pressure or spill or break the carboy or bottles trying to fill them. I am learning this skill, but I haven’t had this much fun since my parents gave me a child’s chemistry set when I was seven.

I think I found a new hobby, along with my brother! I have not started my next batches yet but plan to make 2 new brews tomorrow (Bananas Foster and French Toast).The batch I made from my original kit from Blue Ox turned out great! I'm still giving the majority of my bottles time to age prior to drinking more than sips. I ended up making a blackberry mead from it and the flavor is fantastic.I also purchased a 2nd (still unopened) Blue Ox kit to either scrap for supplies inside OR wait until I find a friend who is intrigued and I have an easy gift to get the hooked as well.Additionally, the instruction book is great. Detailed information with step by step directions. I did end up buying an auto-syphon and an additional glass jar to use for moving to secondary.Â

It came with a broken airlock, I reached out to the company directly and they were veery helpful. The directions are very easy to follow and they even have a video to follow along with. I have not finished my first batch yet but will update when I do!

I like everything about this mead kit: 1. 4 storage flip top bottles stores all of the king's (my) mead. 2. Hydrometer kit is an added bonus. 3. Yeast nutrients. 4. Slick packaging. 5. Instructions are Easy to read and follow. 6. 2 American guys own it and run it (and apparently you can call them too, with questions). Superb. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

When my order arrived there were 2 broken bottles, all 4 flip top bottles lids are missing, no funnel, nothing rubber stopper for the 1 gallon carboy, and the 3 piece airlock is also no where to be found. The box the item is factory packaged at is all beat up and bent up. I was super excited for this set and I am highly disappointed. 😢
