This press has overload protection electronics which prevent motor damage and excess accessory wear designed for long life. A Quick Change chuck system allows for tool free change between 3/4" Weldon Shank and 1/2" keyed chuck, and the Quick Release feed handles provide tool free change of handles to either side of the tool. Absolutely great tool. Tons of power, the gibs are nice and snug, all the parts fit...I've used a number of other mag drills. Most recently an Evolution and a Jancy Slugger. This is a better tool by far. To those who are complaining about wobble in the quick release either got a bad fit, have damaged/worn out cutters, or just have no idea what this tool is for. The new annular cutters I bought fit perfectly in the quick release and have very little runout. This is NOT a drill press or a milling machine. A few thousandths of runout is normal and acceptable in this kind of tool. That said, it drills VERY true. So far I've punched holes in a bunch of 1/4 and 3/8 mild plate, flange and web of a 10W22, and a bunch of smaller stuff. Absolutely zero complaints.Quick release handle is a great feature. By moving the drill body up on the slide you can use the included 1/2" chuck and NORMAL length twist drill bits. No need to buy a set of stubbies just for this tool. That's a big deal and a huge savings. Mag base grips well and holds the drill in any position. Travel on the powerhead is about 4" so plenty to drill holes in as thick a material as you have bits/cutters for.Overall I couldn't be happier. There are bigger/badder units out there but they are in the $2500 and up price range. For under a grand this is the one.

This mag drill is awesome. I bought this for my welding department and it is going to save a lot of time. It cuts clean accurate holes that are straight with no burr. The cutting oil system works well. I don't have to worry about my guys forgetting to apply oil. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I bought this for a one time project and figured I'd sell it when done. Nope, I really liked the versatility and used it a handful of times more and I'm sure more in the future. I bought an annular cutter set plus have silver and deming drills and it handles both equally. It does have enough travel for those drill bits. I would prefer even slower speed for the drills but the annualars don't seem to mind the speed. Magnet is very strong and is easy to turn on and off. The case is very nice and this is one tool I keep in the case because it stores better that way and isn't used often enough. Some of the listings say 220V but it was 110V.

These things are so handy. Bought one and tried it out in a fab shop and it has worked great so I bought a 2nd one for the guys to use. I didn't realize how often we'd use it and wish I'd have bought it years ago.Edit: bought a 3rd one now. First one has lasted 3 years without issue besides one of my guys knocking it off the table and bending the arbor. Bought replacement parts and have been using it since.

I have 3 of these mag drills and they work perfectly for years and can drill through some serious thick steel. Don’t waste ur money on any other drills

I had given this a negative review a long time ago because the customer service dept was not super helpful. However, I’ve been using this drill almost everyday for a couple of years and it’s doing great. The magnet is not super heavy duty but for this price it is a great drill for general fabrication.

I researched magdrills for months. I compared the Dewalt to several other much higher-priced options and went with the Dewalt. I have been using it almost daily for the past couple of months and could not be happier with my purchase. I would put it up against units that are twice the price any day of the week.

I was building a fence out of 1/8†steel and needed to drill approximately 150 7/16†holes. I tried doing it with a regular drill and twist bits but it was taking forever and I was going through bits like nothing. Bought this drill and annular bits. Wow! This made the job about a million times faster, and the bit has had no noticeable degradation of performance. I am very happy with this tool and am sure it will last for years to come.To be fair I have never used a different brand, but this worked very well and I can’t imagine a different brand being significantly better.This also comes in a nice plastic case to keep everything organized.Edit: Recently used it to drill 5 holes in each of my forklifts so that we can attach a trailer ball to move them around. This drill cut through that thick steel with ease.I don’t use this drill very often, but every time I have it has made the job a breeze.

Very happy with this new addition to our shop. Magnet is very strong once its on. Also, there's a lot of feature for the price that we bought.Mind if you correct the voltage, it's not 240V, but its 120V and it perfectly works!

This is an extremely good drill for the cost. I looked at many other makes and found the Dewalt drill the best drill for the price. I have drilled approximately 100, 1/2" to 1 1/4" holes with it so far and it has work perfectly! Yes, other drills have a few other handy options, but this works great for me in my shop on the farm.

Great little drill, i purchased this drill for a special project that involved many 1/2" diameter holes into 3/8" steel; some in the shop and some on site on a vertical surface. I am happy it came with a regular drill chuck since the bigger "plug style" cutters start around 5/8". Each hole had to be chamfered also, it accomplished the task perfectly. The reason for the 4 star is i wished it had a depth stop, that would allow perfect chamfers... needless to say a little stop block was made and solved the problem. Even if this a portable drill press, it should have a way to produce multiple holes and chamfers with the same setting.
