I generally don't buy single bits, but I use 5/16" brad points a lot for clearance holes for 1/4" bolts. My existing bit had developed a wobble that was missing center and elongating holes (and vibrating). This bit runs true, cuts well, and makes more sense than buying an entire set to get one bit.

Received this bit new in the package. Upon opening it and chucking it up in the drill, I was amazed at how crooked this bit was and how much it wobbled. I removed the bit to be sure there was nothing in the chuck, but upon putting it back in the chuck, it ran the same way. Resulted in an over sized hole in the hardwood I was drilling. Would not recommend buying this product.

The drill did a nice job of drilling into maple trees so I could then tap the tree. Drills specifically designed for tree taps may do a better job of clearing out wood while drilling, but this did a good enough job. I just had to pull it out a couple times during drilling to clear out debris. All of the taps worked fine, no clogs.

I use these 5/16" bits to drill logs for mushroom spawn plugs. Works well for that.
