I can't tell you how many times prior to receiving this tool that I wish I'd had it while working on HVAC air handlers and furnaces. This tool has already bailed me out a couple times while trying to extract sequencers and other related components mounted to the back of the units. Seriously, if your in the HVAC trade, this is one of those tools that will save time and reduce frustration. I don't have any problems with the way other impacts bits fit into it. Yep, you have to slide the spring catch back and release it to lock the bit in. Easy business. The extension seems to be very well made and so far has performed flawlessly, exactly what I've come to expect from Dewalt. I had two sequencers that needed to be changed in a Mobile home, the liquid, suction, and condensate drain were located directly in front of the component. Not enough room to get an impact in there, my regular 6" extension bits wouldn't reach. Without this tool, It was either going to be a stubby screw driver or go back to the truck to get a ratchet set. Pulled out this extension, inserted my 6" bit extension, and bam screws were removed. Time and or trip to truck saved. Highly recommend picking one of these up if your in the HVAC trade.

I purchased two of these Dewalt 12-inch extensions as well as two of their 6-inch extensions and use them often for drilling holes with spade bits through beams and framing that is several 2X thick. The 12-inch as well as the 6-inch version have also come in handy as screw bit and nut driver extensions for hard to reach areas inside of equipment and cabinets. I had used the Irwin extensions for years but, they are more expensive and don't really last any longer than the Dewalt with the type of use they get. These Dewalt extensions are working fine for my needs and I have been happy with them. The only real difference I see from the Irwin is that with the Dewalt you need to push back on the collar to load and lock in the bit, instead of just pushing it in like with the Irwin. These extensions still need a 5/8-inch or larger hole to allow the collar to pass through. I've used two of the 12-inch extensions together to make a 24-inch long extension and even added another 6-inch for longer reach drilling. Overall, these extensions have been doing what I need so will buy again when needed.

For the price its a good deal, but not sure its the dewalt quality I remember. It seems like its just another knock off bit. I am on Team Red, and I just get tired of paying the inflated price, but at least their stuff is worth the extra few bucks. I normally don't buy Team Yellow stuff, now since most of their USA stuff isn't really made in the USA like they claim... I would get again simply because of the price, not because its a dewalt.

It is a game-changer for me. The extension is easy to use and attaches securely to my spade bit, allowing me to drill deep holes with ease. The build quality is excellent and it has held up well over multiple uses. Overall, I highly recommend this extension to anyone in need of a longer reach for their spade bit.

I had originally bought just the 12" version of this and ended up using it quite often. Occasionally I found the 12" to be too long, but needed some extension. Cue this 6" version. Honestly, given how much I use this and the 12" version, I should have bought both long ago. Well worth it.

Multiple of these are better than long drill bits. Coupled with right angle Dewalt converter, they eliminate the need of a flex bending long drill bit (the > 36 " ones) for recessed light projects. A trick to make it work:- drill a hole in both sides of the studs you intend to pierce.- using the opposite hole, slide the extension and fix it to the drill bit- add more similarly as required, I used 6 across 4 studs, you might need one 6" extension- you might need a telescope camera to inspect your work, there are cheap ones for 25$

Excellent product, does exactly what it is designed to do. Excellent cutting speed and chip clearance. Just a shame it took so long to arrive when simple Royal Mail 2nd class would have been here in two days.

Used this an extension on a hex drill bit to drill out a pair of manifold studs, there was some vibration as far a staying centred but that was to be expected. Drilled a pilot hole first so it wasnt a huge problem. Bought a short a long one both were straight with no bends in them. Worked well
