I am thrilled that I discovered 3 pool products this summer that greatly help me care for my pool. All of them were found by thinking, is there something that...? And then looking for it on Amazon. I've always hated my pool pump timer. I'm in Florida so it's used all year round. Those little trip things get loose and move, or even worse, fall off onto the grass underneath, never to be seen again. Then there is just a little flap protecting us from electric shock. But the bigger issue is that sometimes the pool is being drained after our monsoon rains, and I forget and go out. So I have to race back home when I realize it. And then even worse, sometimes the pool filter cap gets loose and water starts pouring out. If I'm home I have to stand in water and turn off the pump. But if traveling, it's a disaster. No one wants their pool to emptyThis happened twice last week while I was home. So I started searching on Amazon for a device that could help and found this great product. I ordered it that day with overnight delivery and scheduled an electrician since this is nothing I would handle. (Someone comfortable with working with electric can fairly easily install this, per the electrician.)I'm so thrilled with this. I easily installed the app and connected to the timer. I can press a button on the timer, use the app to either set a schedule or turn it off/on, and even set it up as an Alexa device. This all works like a charm and has removed so much worry for me. Also, on a side note, I had called my pool company to ask about a wifi timer and they just had the old fashioned kind. This wifi timer is extremely inexpensive for what it does, and the electrician cost was minimal.

As mentioned in my title - DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH ELECTRICAL WIRING. AND BE CERTAIN TO KILL THE POWER AT THE BREAKER BEFORE REMOVING THE OLD AND INSTALLING THE NEW. That said, if you are comfortable with wiring, this was pretty easy. After many years, our Intermatic timer finally died. A replacement cost almost twice as much as this unit and was purely mechanical with no remote capability. I have several devices in my home using the Smart Home app, so I thought it would be nice to have the pool pump also controllable remotely instead of having to slog all the way across my yard to the pool shed every time I need to make a change or adjustment to the schedule. The install went without a hitch. The knockouts on the box matched up with the Intermatic box, so after removing the old box, there was no need to run new conduit. The trickiest part was figuring out whether my pool was 120 or 240 (the former) and then following the wiring instructions. They have a video that helps. I recommend that you label each wire as you remove it from your old timer so that you know where it goes on the new one.In order to connect to wifi, you need to disable your 5G as this will only connect on 2.4G. I have an Eero mesh network and their app does not make it obvious how to disable 5G. Fortunately, having done it many times, I know that you have to go to Troubleshooting and then where it says you are having trouble connecting, you can toggle to 2.4G for 10 minutes. Once that was done, it connected immediately and I could easily program the schedule from my house. The unit does have a power button in the center to toggle the pump on and off. But there are no settings on the box itself to control schedule etc. I believe they have other, more expensive models that let you do that. This is not an issue for me.

Hey all... This wifi box seems to be working well... It's fairly new for me, so can't vouch for how long it will last. The bad.... The box is SMALL. if you are using larger gauge wires, you will NOT have room for courtesy loops. I used 6 gauge wires, and there was a little bit of swearing happening. The good... You can program on/off times, and even weather specific actions! Like, why heat up my hot tub if it's too hot outside that I'd likely not use it. If the area reported weather hits 90F, it shuts power off. Additionally, I've programmed it to turn off the hot tub when electricity prices are highest. When it turns power back on, my tub is able to remember it's settings. Win-win.For us DIYers: I am using this controller to run a 230v hot tub. The picture attached is what you want FROM your breaker box into this box. The wires to the hot tub come from the "empty" screws in the picture labeled as NO1 and NO2. You will notice that the grounding wires (white and green) DON'T have a spot on the main strip. Those wires are NOT used here. Instead, they bypass this box and connect at the junction box. There is a grounding screw at the bottom inside of this plastic box. I really don't know what it does as I don't see a connection to the top of the controller, but I ran a bare copper from the junction box (where the green and grounding wire are) to that screw. Personally, I don't understand how this electrical box works without a ground from the components part, but that's how it does what it does.

Since this installation involves working with 220VAC, great care should be taken. In my case, I wanted to replace an electromechanical clock-type 220VAC pool timer switch with one I could control via WiFi. This unit looked like a good choice. It wasn't too difficult to install, but I did have to run new conduits since the holes in the cabinet were not in the same places as the older timer. The manufacturer-supplied app guided me through setting it up with my smart phone. I used this to put it on my WiFi network and set a recurring schedule for my pool pump. Then I tested it and everything worked. The only problem I've had was that the unit operated intermittently when the sun shined directly on it in the afternoon. I thought this might be an overheating problem; so I cut and installed a piece of sheet aluminum to shield the switch, and that seems to have fixed the problem. It has been operating flawlessly for several months.

Purchased this item to replace an Intermatic Timer. Intermatic Timer was troublesome as it needed to be reset upon a power outage and was somewhat noisy. This wifi timer cured both issues!! Have this timer running my Hayward Pool Pump without issue. Found pump to be running more quietly and with timed presets , pool pump will run on time regardless of any power outages. Have wired on 240v and can have a heater wired as well if I wish. Wifi setup was a breeze...no issues. Highly recommend !!

I use this timer for my in-ground pool pump. No surprises with the hook up and installation, it works as I expected. The only thing a little wonky is the initial connection to the home wifi - it didn't connect as expected but did connect so. no biggie. It would be helpful if the device name came up on my home wifi as 'Smart Timer' or something similar instead of some 'Tuya Smart Device or that I could edit.'

The Smart Timer Box worked perfectly first time. None of the usual hassles with WiFi or Cloud setup. The physical, electrical, electronic and networking pieces all play perfectly together. The device also remembers and restores settings across power outages and app closures. It was the only WiFi controllable 240VAC relay I could find, and it is a winner. Only minor complaint is the ridiculous brand name.

Simplemente súper feliz con la app y el controlar los encendidos y apagados a distancia y antojo. Me olvide de los pins que me estresaban pornque se quedaba prendida la bomba o no prendÃa. Ideal

Price is a bit steep but the overall design is sound and does exactly what I expected it to. The programming app is basically the same as most other smart devices so easy to use. Best part for me is linking to Alexa for voice commands. The only piece I really didn’t like is the two mounts are above and below the box, which is a minor cosmetic stain but would have been nicer if they were on the inside and out of sight.
